We had a wonderful dinner. Wait staff was excellent as was the duck confit appetizer. The menu was very creative and we loved all of our choices. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the bar like atmosphere - I know it says Bar in its name but just didn't jive with the top notch food.

To start, the bar area offers an open view of all the cooking that is happening. The chef on the night we dined was very pleasant and he thoroughly seemed to enjoy cooking and creating dishes. The wine list is decent if not exceptional, a bit on the high end for this type of establishment. This brings me to the food which can be quite delicious, but at the same time, not exceptional and certainly not of the caliber that the restaurant tries to promote. A sense of pretentiousness was forever present by our waiter evoking a feeling of not being totally comfortable. Perhaps if the restaurant scaled down on its attempts to be somewhat of an "upscale" restaurant and focused on "genuine" service and more food without pretense, our experience would have been more positive. The environment is casual and there is outside dining however traffic on Route 9 is really not conducive to enjoying a meal.

My husband and I had gone to 2 Taste when it first opened and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the service and the food on a very busy night. This time on a week night things were pretty slow - this should have meant great service and food that had plenty of time to be perfectly prepared.. Well, the service was terrific, but the food, which we enjoyed, was good but not up the standard we were expecting. Drinks were excellent, hot baguette with olive tapanade was tasty, appetizers were really good. The Caesar salad was unusual - small serving lightly dressed, with white anchovies, topped with crumbled hard-cooked egg and drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Not bad, just different. Entrees were also good, bouillabaisse seemed to be a favorite with many of the diners (we'd noticed that on our first visit as well), and was very good, although a little more spicey heat would have been welcome. Hanger steak was tasty, but a bit cold, seemed to have been rested too long - the accompanying fries were some of the best I've had, however. Homemade desserts were hard to pass up, and were very good, although, again temperature was a little off. They have an interesting-looking tapas menu Monday - Thursday, and several diners seemed to be happily making up their dinners from the various choices - might be an idea for our next visit. The chef's bar is a fun place to sit so you can get in on all the "action" and chat with the chefs while they cook, although the high bar stools make getting on and off a bit of a workout. With nice weather coming, they have several umbrella tables outside - next to Route 9, but an interesting spot, anyway. All in all, we had a pleasant experience at 2 Taste, but it could have been better with a little more care in some of the dishes. It's a nice, friendly place that may have been having a bit of an "off" night - to be sure we'll try it again.

My friend and I were greeted by one of the friendly owners upon arrival and were able to sit outside for dinner in MARCH! Amazing. We had the restaurant week menu which was a fabulous value. We loved the food and the atmosphere. The steamed clams, salmon (done perfectly) and crepe with bourbon apples was delicious! This restaurant is definitely worth a try! I will be back!

We really enjoyed our dinner at 2 Taste. Everything from appetizers thru dessert was exceptional. The service was very attentive and the drinks very good. We frequent NYC restaurants very often and this restaurant would do very well with all the competition in the NYC. Chef Jason was very accomodating to any dietary needs we had.
