If you have a few extra minutes for lunch, I highly recommend the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe, located on the campus of the CIA. It can get busy, so go when you have the time to enjoy it. EVERYTHING is good!

Good creative food with interesting ingredients. Only drawbacks: often crowded and difficult to find a table.

You have to go, culinary offerings by the staff and students at the famous Culinary Institute of America in a casual setting

The Apple Pie Bakery at the Culinary Arts Institute is a little gem. It is the only student run restaurant where you don't need reservations way in advance which means it can be busy at times. Today we encountered a short line to go in to order and there were few tables available to settle in once our order was placed and we were waiting for delivery. Specials for the day in all areas were posted out in the hallway along with the paper copies of the menu, so the line gave us time to make our decisions. The white bean soup with orzo was not the usual creamy version but was flavorful and delicious. The salads, one with goal cheese arugala and beets and a bulgur salad without greens were good tasting. But the desserts were surprisingly imaginative and great! Neither one would have been expected given the descriptions but were better than described. I don't want to spoil the surprise for you but can't wait to go back to try some of the others. The baked goods range from cookies to interesting cupcakes, glazed croissants, breads and macarons in several flavors. By 2'oclock there was no line and we could have had our choice of tables. Don't plan to go on the weekend as it is not open then and check online to make sure the students are not on vacation, closing the cafe.

We stopped in for a mid-morning snack. We had amazing scones and pastry plus we took home a beautiful baguette and some rolls. All the food is baked or made by the students. Excellent!
