We greatly enjoyed our visit today. The Ranger who led our tour was so engaging, informative, and friendly. If you're in the area, Val-Kill is definitely worth a stop! I only wish we'd had time to do a bit of hiking!

Val-Kill was the highlight of our trip to Hyde Park. We had a very enthusiastic and informative tour guide who walked us through the house and answered any and all questions that the group had. The tour began with a nice film overview and then we walked into Eleanor's house - what a wonderful experience, and I felt so lucky that we were able to visit. Make sure to call ahead for tour times and closings - we were lucky that we went to the visitor's center early because there was an event scheduled for the afternoon.

Eleanor Roosevelt was truly an American Treasure! So nice to visit her very humble home. Beautiful home of a great First Lady!

I was surprised to find how simple life was when Eleanor Roosevelt lived at Val-Kill Cottage. The tour of the cottage and grounds was very interesting. The guide was very informative and put Eleanor's life at Val-Kill into good perspective. If you decide to go to Top Cottage, which is closed due to the sequestration by Congress, be prepared to walk and be careful to stay on the right trail. We walked for an hour and never found Top Cottage because we had gotten mixed up with two paths, not well-marked, that cross each other. Otherwise, it was a very interesting visit!
