“A Trip Back in Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

I loved the tour of this house and learning about the life of one of our most important presidents and his wife Eleanor. I also enjoyed the beautiful gardens that include the graves of Franklin and Eleanor. The horse stables are also beautiful and very interesting. The tour guide was excellent.

“History comes alive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

1 hour tour conducted by Park Ranger (part of the U.S. Park System) was informative, enjoyable and gave many "personal insights" into FDR and his family.

“Nice tour of FDR's birthplace, excellent presidential museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

The setting of this museum and home is perfect -- on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River a couple hours north of Manhattan by car or train. The tour of FDR's family home was relaxed and informative. The grounds are expansive and very well maintained. But, in my opinion, the museum was the highlight of our recent visit (our third in 20 years). The museum exhibits were recently expanded, so be sure to allow lots of time to see it all. A combination of official and family photos helps to bring history to life.

“A nice spot in the woods”

Not much else. One of the oldest landscaped spots in the country. Short hikes, tons of deer, wear socks and long pants.

“Beautiful spot, tons of history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

Don't miss the short movie in the visitors' center. It's a necessary reminder of how hard life was before we committed to take care of each other when we were down and out--a lesson today's Republicans need to re-learn.

The house is surprisingly modest, but lovely and warm, and the grounds are beautiful.
