We pulled into Grants heading West and every restaurant we saw was closed Sunday 2pm. McD's was up ahead and we were bummed but then the First Ave Cafe came in sight! We always try to find the local cafés and this is one of the best. I had provolone burger with green chile sauce - perfectly toasted fresh bun and great burger. He had ground sirloin dinner and the quality of meat was excellent. Friendly staff, fast service and fair (not cheap) prices. Would have loved to try a slice of pie but both of us were too full. This will be a routine stop for us when driving through.

This was my last stop in Grants and it was wonderful! Had breakfast here on my way out of town and was very impressed. The staff was very friendly and the biscuits, gravy, and hashbrowns I ordered were freshly made and delivered by the chef, who I believe might also have been the owner. Didn't have a chance to have lunch here, but if it was half as good and freshly made as breakfast, it would definitely be worth it! The fact that one of the very friendly locals picked up my check and paid for it on the way out simply added to the fact that this is an incredible place. Granted, can't promise the locals will pick up your check, but the reasonable prices will certainly not burn a hole in your pocket either way. Wonderful stop!

Stopped for breakfast here, and were glad we'd got off the Interstate. Their breakfast menu is novel, including the likes of cheddar, jalapeno and ham quiche with hash browns, which was oddly very nice, but their are also al the usual favourites. Their pancakes are the biggest we've ever seen. Don't order the stack, you'll be defeated, as each one is the size of a dinner plate and half inch thick. Fast, friendly service. Background noise of wailing train klaxons was so much better that the whine of the interstate. Good value.

We frequent this restaurant often. Friendly employees and awesome food just make for a great dining experience either alone or with family/friends. Have some of the cinnamon rolls warmed with melted butter on top!

The food at this little cafe is fantastic! The desserts are all home made, fresh and tasty. Easy access from I-40, exit 81. Worth the stop!
