Great hike from Scenic Highway 53 through extinct volcanoes, with caves and crater. Peace and quiet and great views.

Wonderful drive to the Natural Arch, but we were a little disappointed that we couldn't walk right into it.

A bit further along the road, the Sandstones Bluff Overlook is not to be missed, but be very careful as there are no railings and a huge drop all along the edge. Not recommended for young children or grown-ups who like to take risks, especially when very windy.

A fabulous, austere landscape, and not overwhelmed with tourists.

Make sure you stop at the visitor center to get information on the different areas. Lava Falls is the one to hike across lava. A bit scary for me to jump over all the cracks, but exciting. The arch is gorgeous, but the hike is pretty short. The bluffs is definitely worthwhile. We walked part of El Calderon. The tubes and sink holes were pretty impressive. Too bad you can't walk into any of the caves. Watch where your GPS sends you since there are two sides to this park.
