“Basic accomodations handy to restaurants and tourist traps”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Hotel is ideally located on the edge of town leading to historic Emmitsburg Road. Accommodations are basic as hotel is showing it's age as previous reviews have indicated. Consists of several buildings, some better located than others. We had a room on the second floor on the back side of hotel towards the battlefield and had no complaints. Rooms open up to outside corridors. Basic breakfast. Can walk to many eateries and shops. Better location than some more upscale hotels that are much further away. Did not use the pool.

The website says: "Either the outdoor pool or the indoor pool and spa will be open depending upon the conditions as determined by management." Neither pool is open right now, nor is the hot tub. Those amenities are the reason we chose this place, so that even if it rained I'd have on-site entertainment for the kids after a very long day of driving. As I understand it from the woman at the front desk, the outdoor pool is for summer, and the indoor pool and hot tub are for the other seasons, so be aware if it matters for your visit. I know most people don't come to Gettysburg to swim in a hotel pool, but after a long day in the car I had the kids all primed to swim and go to bed early, only to be let down.

Room Tip: If your luggage is heavy, ask to be near a stairway. Getting up to the second floor wasn't easy...

We do operate 2 seasonal pools. The outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Indoor pool and hot tub is open from Labor Day to Memorial Day. We do maintain our indoor pool in the summer months for when it is raining or temperature under 70° it will open. The only way both pools are ever closed is because there is thunder and/or lightning in the area.

The outside of this hotel is very nice. The pool area is nice and they have a pool indoors also incase the weather is bad. The rooms have cast iron chairs outside the door so you can enjoy the view. The location is good. You can park and walk to many shops, restaurants and parts of the battlefield. the girls at the front desk are nice. You have an assigned a parking space. The beds are SUPER comfortable. There is very little noise. Now for the bad...the rooms are old. They need updating. The A/C smelled moldy, there was a bug in my bed...a BIG bug, the dust ruffle was dirty, duvets were DISGUSTING, the shower curtain was dirty and my sheets were not changed as requested. How do I know??? The stain on the sheet...that's how. The pool guy forgot to turn on the pool lights and when he came out to turn them on he was rude. Then when he was cleaning the pool area after closing the pool, he was slamming and kicking chairs around. He was a jerk. Our key would not work so we had it fixed. It stopped working a second time and we just used one room key and hoped it would keep working. If you don't mind outdated peeling wallpaper and a little dirt then you will see the value. It does seem like they are trying to update the rooms. The bathroom looked like it was renovated recently. I hope they get it fixed up and replace their cleaning staff. I stayed here for my honeymoon in 1997 and it was really nice.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor. Pretty view.

I am very sorry to hear how disappointing you found your room. This is not how we what our rooms to be. I have let Housekeeping that there was an issue and they are looking into it. Should you ever return to Gettysburg, please reconsider our hotel.

I stay at this hotel several times a year. Although it is beginning to show some signs of age in its furnishings and bathrooms, it remains a great place to stay while visiting Gettysburg. It is within easy walking distance of great shops and restaurants and the battlefield itself. It is also clean and quiet. The wifi can be a bit hit and miss, but this depends on where you are in the complex. The complimentary breakfast is quite good and very convenient. Definitely recommended.

We were canceled out of another hotel by someone who we don't know and that hotel was booked. They recommended this one and called for us to make sure they had rooms. The service desk gave us all the discounts they could without even asking us which was awesome. The room was clean and they had the nice blankets on the bed. I can't deal with the old curtain looking blankets so I bring my own. I won't have to do that anymore because we now know this hotel has the nice blankets. A big plus in my book. This place is sitting on the battlefield which the whole town is anyway but they are sitting right on the driveway to the old visitors center. We are paranormal enthusiasts so this was another plus. We know the area to be active. They have a nice breakfast cottage. It's just your basics but I don't know anyone who stays at a hotel for the free breakfast anyway. You can park your car at your room then walk where ever you want in town. Everything is convenient to town the museum across the street always has reenactors outside which is cool to see in a town with the history of Gettysburg. It's not a hotel for snobs who need to be catered too but it is great for anyone else. We stay in their sister hotel across the street all the time and the owners of these two hotels know what they are doing with customer service. I will return to this hotel in the near future. I say good job to the owners, especially to the staff and thank you for a great stay and helping us out when we needed it!

As others have said, this hotel was in a perfect location. Everything about it was lovely and it was just a good old American motel that lives up to the name "Quality Inn". We were a group of five "adults" (if you can call us that) so we got one of the rooms with three beds. It was a nice room, but for $155 a night, I would have thought we'd get a fridge and possibly a microwave, which we didn't. Oh well, other than that it was a great hotel and I'd definitely stay there again if I came back to the area.

My family has lodged at the Quality Inn Motor Lodge in Gettysburg for the last 8 years. We find it fits our needs very well. I am always greeted with a smile at the front desk as the staff is courteous and professional. You can depend on a clean and comfortable room when lodging here. Housekeeping is excellent and any maintenance issues I’ve had have been quickly addressed (only 1 in 8 years and that was a thermostat problem with the A/C). My kids really enjoy the outdoor pool (there is an indoor pool in case of rain) as well as the putting area. We all like the breakfast cottage early in the morning, especially the coffee. It is conveniently located within walking distance of many shops and eateries which makes it our first choice for rooms in Gettysburg. For us, the Quality Inn Motor Lodge is an excellent value for the price. We plan to continue rooming here as for us it is like home away from home.
