Our family came up for the weekend of the National Applefestival. Once again, the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg was amazing!! The continental breakfast was hot, fresh, and delicious. The view of the town from the top floor is breath taking. Nothing beats the location! You are walking distance from all the local attractions and restaurants, just walk out the front door and you got so much to do!

We were in Gettysburg for the Columbus Day weekend and stayed at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. We reserved 3 rooms....we all agreed that the rooms were clean, nicely decorated and had plenty of space. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. The Front Desk staff (Sam) was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast had a nice variety of breakfast foods...something for everyone, even the picky ones!!!
The location can not be beat! We were right in the middle of it all. The A/C worked great, very quiet. The house keeping gets 2 thumbs up for all their hard work. I will stay here again.... and I will gladly recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Finally, the view of Gettysburg from the 4th and 5th floors is beautiful. =]

Room tip: Great location...park the car and walk every where.... Try the trolley its very handy and fun!

We just returned from Gettysburg today and once again had a great stay at the Inn. We needed two connecting rooms with one of them pet friendly and the perfect rooms were available even though there wasn't time to reserve ahead.

The Rise and Shine breakfast is incredible! It goes far beyond what you'd expect for a free hotel breakfast. Everything from breakfast sandwiches to waffles, sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, omelets, cereal.... well, nothing was lacking there.

The price of the rooms was lower than we expected to pay at such a prime location. Another huge plus. Our room was on the 5th floor and we could see mountains in the background, and the chapel steeple and cupola on Seminary Ridge in the distance. The hotel is in an excellent location directly on the battlefield.

Beds were comfortable and there was a refrigerator in each room. I didn't realize there wouldn't be a microwave and my daughter had bought fresh soup at a nearby restaurant to heat for dinner and had to eat it cold, but NOT a huge problem at all. It was a cold night and the heater worked well without that horrible smell that some hotel heaters have when first turning them on.

The room was clean and staff was friendly at check-in and check-out. We will definitely be returning.

Room tip: My tip would be to see if you can get a room in the back of the hotel. Traffic noise in the front rooms can be a problem for light sleepers.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Our rooms are clean and comfortable at a resonable rate. The view from the 5th floor front is pretty amazing. You do not get the noise from the street in the back of the hotel but the view is not as nice. Just a tip for your next visit-we do have a microwave in the lobby area for our guests to use. I am sorry that the staff did not point that out while you were here. Our Free "Rise and Shine" Breakfast does have a nice selection. It is a great way to start your morning. We hope that you will come back to see us. Next year will be very exciting-150th Anniversary of the battle. There will be many events going on all year. Thank you again for the wonderful review. We love to hear that we had another happy guest!

We visited Pennsylvania for a dog event and to see the battlefield. This hotel caught my attention for its location and being pet friendly. We were pleasantly surprised with our accomodations. The room was super clean and modern. A/C worked great. Small refridgerater for keeping things cold. Our room was on the second floor with easy access to the grassy area behind the hotel for the dog. I was happy to see that people took care of this area and cleaned up after their pets. No land minds to dodge! Even had some dog cookies in the room waiting when we arrived. But what really amazed us was the location. It is smack dab in the middle of historic Gettsyburg. The Jennie Wade house is literally an arms length away from the walkway! You can exit the hotel and walk along the historic streets filled with great shops and small eateries. The battlefield is less then a mile up the road. I thought this was one of the nicest pet friendly hotels we have ever stayed in. Whoever is manageing this hotel really pays attention to what travelers want. Clean rooms, nice free coffee and continental breakfast, plenty of parking, and of course a great location! I have already recommended this hotel to my friends and family. Thank you to the staff and the management for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

Room tip: If traveling with a pet, the second floor goes right out to the parking, grassy area behind the hotel. If I was traveling without a pet, I think I would go with the top floor. I'm sure the view would be neat!

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit. You're right-you can't beat the location of this hotel. Then you add a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable rate with a great staff to go with it and pet friendly to boot! We really do take care of our guests here-even the furry ones! We realize that there are many lodging options in Gettysburg-most of them franchise hotels. We also know that there are folks that can be a bit hesitant when it comes to staying at a non-franchise property. That is why we work very hard to make sure that each visitor has an enjoyable time with us and wants to came back. I want to thank you personally for the nice comment regarding the management at the hotel. I have been at this hotel for 33 years and never get tired of hearing that our guests are pleased with what we have to offer them. Thank you so much! We hope that you will visit us again if you are in the area. It would be our pleasure.

Sincerely and with much appreciation,

Read some bad reviews about this place and I cannot see how! This place was great, you think because it's an OLD hotel that you should expect musty smelling rooms with moldy showers.....WRONG! The only places that have rivaled this place on bathroom cleanliness was a few places in Las Vegas. Staff were friendly, carpets clean, Location, Location, Location!!! The free breakfast is nothing to scoff about either. They have something to fit every kind of diet and it's complimentary. That's a big savings every morning not having to buy a sit down breakfast. The bus tours share the same parking lot, shops and great food near bye. Coffee maker and hair dryer in room. I couldn't ask for anything more for the price. Keep up the great work 1863

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! You are right-you can't please everyone. This may be an older property but it is well kept and very clean! We offer the same goodies that the newer-more expensive hotels do. Our rooms are clean and well appointed. The Free Breakfast has a large variety of items. And the best part is-as you said-it is FREE!! You can't beat the location of the hotel-just park and walk to the attractions. There are many shops and restaurants in the area. We are very proud of this hotel. Great staff-clean rooms and a FREE Breakfast! Thank you again for the review! We love to hear that we have a happy customer. We hope you will visit with us again if you are back this way.
