We found the check-in clerk very helpful, providing us directions to a local restaurant. But the rest of the story is we were given, for whatever reason, an handicap room. Being over 50 and having traveled 4 hours, my first stop was the restroom. Imagine my suprise that two rolls of toilet paper had been carefully folded to a thoughtful v, with 6 squares of paper on each! My first thought was, this was a handicap room; and how dare the housekeeping staff put a handicap person in the position that they would have to roll to the front desk to ask for toilet paper! Shame, shame, shame!
Anticpating a night adventure, during grooming we found 2 towels, two washclothes...that was it. No spares, no handtowels. To top the night off, I slept with a spring lodge in my right kidney. Oh, and I forgot to mention the picture above the bed that represented a Shaker man with his son. We actually tried to turn the picture to the wall! Needless to say, only fitful sleep occured in what was to be a romantic getaway. When we awoke, there was no caffinated coffee for in the in-room coffee maker. Really, the house keeping staff is to blame, along with owners for their uncomfortable beds and decore. For a hotel that depends on the tourism of the history of the town, this one leaves one wondering what the heck?More
