“My Little Secret Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We have stayed in this little Motor Inn (3)times. Busy Gettysburg weekend for the 150th anniversary. Rooms are modest but clean, new mattress and bedding. I love the history behind a nostalgic motor Inn, and hope these never go out of style. Mark and Richard are top drawer gents, who strive to accommodate. Dogs are welcome, small clean pool, walking is easy to everything. Don't expect to be 4-star, it's 1950's chic, no tavern on the property so bring your own cooler. Some wrought iron benches right outside rooms. Coffee maker, little fridge, free coffee and homemade goodies in morning provided. (Marks wife is good cook)! Took the spook walking tour with Ginger(she most certainly has better than average spiritual connections). Stop in front of Old Orphanage located one block away on Baltimore Pike, you'll feel something there.
Don't forget to show great respect to those fallen soldiers on Gettysburg battlefield, it's very hallowed ground and most worthy of our true humility and respect. Virg Columbia,Il

Room Tip: Room 131 is right next to Steinwehr Ave and may be a little noisier.

I have stayed here several times and each time I am impressed with the service. Mark and his wife go out of their way to make sure everything is taken care of and they will be happy to help with recommendations for eating and sightseeing. She makes some wonderful breads for the morning breakfast! The location is right across from the National Cemetery and is within walking distance of most of the museums, shops, and tourists spots in town. Very clean rooms. Somewhat dated, but a great value for the price. I will always look here first when I come to town!

Stayed in Room 101 Non-Smoking 2 doubles. Mark was accommodating and pleasant. Location! Location! Location! Very Clean, Well Maintained. Comfortable bedding, A/C, CableTV,Fridge in room. No microwave or fitness center but we parked free and walked nearly everywhere. Nice clean outdoor pool with 4 ft and 9 ft area depths; no diving. Continental Breakfast with coffee, OJ, pastries and homemade blueberry bread.

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, we spent 3 nights at the Budget Host with my two preteens and were glad we did! Our favorite things -- the location, the outdoor pool, and the clean, comfortable room.

After driving 8 hours to get to Gettysburg, we wanted to spend as little time as possible in the car. At the Budget Host, my kids and I were able to walk to local restaurants (Dobbins, Gettysburg Eddie's, O'Rourkes, the Avenue, and more), fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Friendlys), several ice cream shops, lots of souvenir shops, and historic attractions. We could also walk to the National Cemetery, and the Gettysburg National Military Park was just a few minute's drive away. Lincoln Square, the downtown area, was also a short drive away but there isn't anything kid-friendly there except for the David Wills House National Historic Site so we were very happy that we stayed nearer to the National Park.

After a hot day of sightseeing, we loved jumping into the pool and spending hours splashing and relaxing under the moonshine. So much nicer than an indoor pool!

As for the room, that was my biggest surprise. I was sure it would not meet my high standards but I was wrong. Great air conditioning, super clean, good TV, sink outside the bathroom, and comfortable beds.

A great price for a great place! If we ever get back to Gettysburg, we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I liked that they had all the nonsmoking rooms together so we didn't have to walk outside our ro...

We stayed here for our recent visit to Gettysburg and will stay there again whenever we return. Clean, comfortable, safe and a very helpful, friendly staff. Great location within walking distance to everything. Excellent price . Not disappointed in one thing. I recommend you check it out when looking for an economical place to "hang your hat" while visiting Gettysburg.

You can't get much closer to the battle field at Gettysburg than staying here - really you're right across the street and up the street both ways - shopping galore - there's something for just about everyone within walking distance - the room was clean, the property clean and safe - the beds were comfortable - the towels not so much but hey for the room I had it was $65 plus tax compared to twice that much for a room about a block away - unless you want to go real fancy and get an expensive bed and breakfast - speaking of breakfast - about the only disappointment here was the ads all say continental breakfast I believe - breakfast consisted of coffee, juice and a danish - not much for continental but it worked to get us out the door and on the road

We stayed here for a night on a long road trip and to try to save $. I doubled checked TripAdvisor reviews several times due to the "motel" label. And it was true what people reviewed it as...a fine place to stay. The desk clerks were very kind and helpful, so far as upon hearing my husband and I talk about the Gettysburg car tour and wondering about it, he told us that someone was using their cd copy presently but to stop by in the morning and we could have it for the day. The room was basic but clean. The bed was comfortable. The towels were a bit scratchy. The only real "hesitant" complaint was the air upon arrival. Our window was open for fresh air...ok...but the air inside was not fresh smelling. Not bad, but not fresh. Running the air conditioner helped. It had to run all night and was a bit noisy. That all said, we would stay here again if we were passing through again.
