“One visit and you'll come back for more.”
Reviewed October 19, 2008

In thinking of purchasing our own restaurant, we compared other restaurants in the area to the one we've considered. During our comparison study, we happened along the rave reviews of ERNIE's--so we decided to check them out!! WOW! What a GREAT place to eat. This quaint little diner prompts you to step back in time,,, back to the simple life, where you can walk in and say hello to all your friends and everybody knows your name. The food is delicious and the heaping portions will keep you full all day. The waitress will not write anything down and get your order right every time. The prices are low and the service the BEST in Gettysburg.

ERNIE's is always busy, yet each staff member will always take the time for a smile and a warm, friendly conversation with you. In fact, we met Linda (owner) on our first visit, who greeted us with a fresh cup of coffee and a promise to say hello to "Puddles" (read the other reviews!)

Every worker has been at ERNIE's for at least 7 years--KIM (our favorite waitress) has worked there for over 27 years. THAT says it all for the owners--Ernie and Linda--who obviously take care of their people very well (customers and workers alike.)

We highly recommend this restaurant, whether you're a regular (like we hope to be soon--since we've been there 4 times in 2 weeks) or a first time visitor, we guarantee you'll have a good meal and walk out with a full tummy and a smile on your face!

P.S. You need to eat your toast or "grandma" might come along and tell you not to WAIST your food!

“Best value in Gettysburg!”

The food here is such a great value! For under $20, my husband and I ate lunch here. Nothing is "cheap" in the tourist area, but this place was a great value!

“A Step Back In Time”
Reviewed June 11, 2008

If you miss the old diners you went to as a kid, this is the place to go. The girls are freindly and service is speedy. Old fashioned hamburgers and texas hot chili dogs are their specialties. A little old looking and out dated, but that adds to it's charm, Great food and very reasonable prices. Don't try to get in right at noon, the locals fill all the seats within minutes.
