“Wonderful Memories!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2010

This was our first experience staying at a Bed and Breakfast. We couldn't have asked for a better place to start. The accommodations were beautiful with the antique flavor of the rooms in our Kentucky Suite. The patios would be superb to eat out on for breakfast when the weather cooperates. I was hoping for that, but it was too cool the days we were there. Breakfast was excellent...a delicious fruit cup, a special warm dish, and something sweet to top it all off ... each dish served at your table. The gardens are very beautiful. There's a lovely front porch to sit on if you like. The location is within walking distance of most of the historical sites. We had a lovely supper at the Dobbin House. We also had made reservations to tour the battlefield with a personal guide, John Weixel, recommended by the owner of The Brickhouse Inn. Thank you to Brian and staff for a wonderful memory!! Centrally located, the Brickhouse Inn is the place to stay in Gettysburg. The inn is within easy walking distance to the town center and some of the battlefield sites. Several restaurants are within walking distance, and you can take a leisurely stroll across the street to get your ice cream fix. The innkeepers, Brian and Tessa, are gracious hosts, always willing to offer helpful hints for local dining or to make reservations with battlefield guides. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully appointed without being too stuffy. The gardens are well tended, with shade trees to lounge under with a fresh cup of coffee and cookies after a day spent touring the battlefield. The breakfasts are delicious and fresh, without being overwhelmingly heavy, and don't miss the shoo fly pie. You'll be rested and ready for a day full of activity after a night at this wonderful inn!

We were lucky and got a last minute reservation here. Stayed in the Alabama room which was very comfortable and spacious. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. The room was in the original building and still had the bullet holes in the outer wall of our room. Our hosts, Brian and Tessa are absolutely lovely people and so accommodating. Talking to them was a real treat. They are very knowledgeable about the area and gave excellent suggestions for meals and things to see.

The Inn is very centrally located near the National Cemetery and many of the best places to eat. The property itself is an oasis in the midst of a high traffic area. We can't wait to go back and will definitely stay here again.

The Brickhouse Inn is a wonderful B&B close to many important historic sites in Gettysburg. The property is lovely, with beautiful fragrant gardens surrounding the patio. The Welty House was charming and rooms were quite spacious. Breakfast on the patio was excellent. Owners and staff were warm, hospitable and attentive.

We just recently spent 2 nights at the Brickhouse Inn, and had a wonderful stay. Brian and Tessa are wonderful hosts, very knowledgable of the area, and had great recommendations on sites and restaurants. We stayed in the Maryland room, overlooking Baltimore Street, and loved our room. It was spacious, with all the ammenities needed. The Inn has absolutely amazing grounds, with all the beautiful roses and gardens. What can I say about breakfast, it was delicious!!! Great food, and serving it in a group setting was a bonus, it was great to share our previous days experiences with other guests. We ate one morning in the Inn, and the other on the back patio. The Inn scheduled for us a private guided tour of the Battlefield, which I strongly recommend to everyone. Every need was met and exceeded. We can not wait to come back. Thank you Brian and Tessa!

We just spent one night here on our way through Gettysburg. The location is fantastic as it's right across from several restaurants and within walking distance of museums, the town square and some of the battlefield attractions. We stayed in the New York room which faces Baltimore St. It was small but tastefully decorated, and the bed was comfortable. Next time, we'd probably try to get into a garden-facing room to avoid the street noise. Also, the wireless internet did not work in our room. The backyard/garden is beautiful and breakfast on the patio was a nice touch.

We just stayed two wonderful nights in Gettysburg at The Brickhouse Inn. We lodged in the beautiful Delaware room in the historic "Welty House" section of the Inn (right next to an outside wall still pockmarked with bullet holes from Confederate sharpshooters!). I don't know if I can add to the superlatives that other reviewers have stated about The Brickhouse Inn and the gracious owners and hosts Tess and Brian, but here goes: simply put--this is a great B & B!! The roses surrounding the Inn were in fragrant , heavenly bloom (like the honeysuckles were in full bloom in "Devil's Den" at the very nearby Battlefield) and the gardens behind the Inn were quiet, peaceful, and beautifully landscaped. It's a short walk to a range of good casual and fine dining choices up the nearby streets ("J's at the Village" was good) or in the historic town center (The Pub was very good for casual dining or drinks al fresco). And from the Inn it's a short stroll to Cemetary Hill, Culp's Hill, and the National Cemetary where Lincoln delivered the Address, as well as a short car or bike ride to the other important sites of the battlefield and The Visitor's Center (the film and Cyclorama are must sees). And if ghost tours float your psychic boat or gift shops satisfy your consumer cravings--there are lots of choices along Baltimore St. and nearby Steinwehr Ave. But back to the B &B! We have stayed at many B & B's all over the States and this ranks as one of the best. The sweet /savory breakfasts were excellant, the afternoon cookies were creative and tasty , the room lovely ,and the hosts were very gracious and informative about where to eat and what to do in and around Gettysburg. It's been 30 years (!!!) since our last visit to Gettysburg, but after our stay at the Brickhouse Inn we are looking forward to returning soon and staying at this wonderful Inn.
