Our first trip to Gettysburg and we were thrilled with the accommodations and service at the Brickhouse Inn. We picked it (out of many places to stay) after exploring the Internet for a good location that was convenient to the battlefield and restaurants, etc. Not knowing what to expect, we were delighted!! Brian and Tessa are the most gracious of hosts, the breakfasts are superb, and the garden, grounds and accommodations are impeccable yet comfortable and inviting. It was the perfect escape to come back to (and reflect) after a long day spent in one of the most solemn, deeply moving sites in our history.

Room Tip: The Carriage House was great!- Quiet and off the busy street.

Found the Brickhouse Inn on Internet and liked the reviews and descriptions so we went for it. To me this place is like when I find a recipe that looks so good and then you give it a try. Sometimes the recipe doesn't live up to the expectations and other times you say, wow that's a keeper. Well the Brickhouse Inn is like that awesome recipe. It is a hit, a keeper, and worth going back to. We are already hoping to set up a fall weekend! You won't be disappointed in the accommodations, staff, food. It was wonderful!

We stayed at the Brickhouse in for two nights. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Melanie and Brian and after settling in went into the town. The location is perfect to do some shopping and is close to the battlefield. The room was very clean but as mentioned before the airconditioning was a little bit loud. At night I turned it off and turned on the ceiling fan instead. Breakfast was delicious. A guided tour wasn't available at the moment so Brian offered an audio tour and a map to use during our visit to the battlefield. The battlefield was very impressive. We enjoyed the hospitality very much. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Well....once again, we just got home from our wonderful stay in Gettysburg, for their 150th Anniversary of the most horrific battle ever fought in the Western Hemisphere. As always...we stayed @ the absolute "BEST" location, and our home away from home... the Brickhouse Inn...!!! I just can't imagine any place to stay in Gettysburg, but here...If you want to be... right in the middle of "ALL" the action & festivities...and enjoy the beauty & solitude of gorgeous gardens, and a beautiful rock fish pond and fountain,( not to mention the best breakfast in town ) the Brickhouse Inn, is your only, and best choice...
The owners, Tessa & Brian, along with their entire staff..will make sure, that you will..... return ...!!!
... as I have said, many times...this is, and will be your home away from home....This is our 15th year staying here...and I just hope, that I have 15 more left....

So when you are relaxing on the front porch, in the rocking chairs, just enjoying the evening, and the people...take a short walk across the street to the "Sunset ice cream parlor" and make your stay... even more enjoyable ...!!!

Room Tip: Any room.... is the "Best"...!!!

Thanks so much for coming back yet again for the Anniversary Week. It was lovely to see you both again - we look forward very much to your visits! This was a special occasion, being the 150th Anniversary, so it was good to have you to stay for a bit longer than usual. It's also especially enjoyable for us to see you relaxing with good friends, and to be able to join you when we can. We really appreciate that you come to stay so often!
We're now looking forward to your next visit. Keep well - and cool!
All our best wishes, Tessa and Brian

We stayed at the Brickhouse Inn for four nights in June 2013. It is truly a gem and deserves five stars. The hosts are superb, as well as the other staff. All of them are the epitome of the people who should work in the hospitality business. The location is perfect for touring the Gettysburg area - close to the National Park and within walking distance of the center of town.

The building, parking, and rooms are first rate - and spotlessly clean. Breakfast and snacks are delicious. The garden setting is beautiful and very inviting.

However, as convenient as the setting is, it is on a VERY busy street. Our room was on the front of the building (the Tennessee Room). Right outside our window was a main traffic light where three busy streets converge. Traffic was horrible all day - and until around 10:00 p.m. - including a fair number of motorcycles. Traffic started up again around 6:00 a.m. - more motorcycles and tour busses.

Added to that traffic was a noisy (and rather inexpensive) window air conditioner. The air conditioner was set into the window with plastic inserts that blocked NO noise. To add insult to injury, we had to turn off the air conditioner to sleep - and were greeted with motorcycles and traffic - what a vicious circle.

We suspect that rooms on the back of the buildings would be quieter. But if someone is looking for a lovely B&B, this is the place, unless you are a light sleeper.

We offer congratulations to the Brick House Inn for gracious hospitality - and pass a caution to future guests about the noisy street.

Room Tip: Select the back rooms - away from the traffic nois.

We're glad you liked the Inn - thanks for your compliments. We're so sorry you were disturbed by the traffic noise from Baltimore Street. Sadly it's largely out of our control. The air conditioners do help a bit (by the way, they are standard a/c's). Because they are historic houses we couldn't have central air in all the guest rooms. We have wall-mounted a/c's in five rooms and we're investigation double glazing for the sash windows.

There are seven rooms at the back of the houses - four in the Victorian house, two in the Welty House, and the Carriage House Room at the back of the garden. These rooms are much quieter.

We hope you will come back one day and we can then find you a quieter room.
Best wishes, Tessa and Brian
