“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2014 via mobile

We stayed one night during Labor Day weekend. Check in was a breeze and the staff was very friendly. The over all appearance and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. If you decide to stay here, ask for a room to the rear of the hotel. Our room was across the hall from the elevator, the ice machine and overlooked a busy street. I didn't realize an ice machine could be so noisy and heavily used in the wee hours of the morning. I would probably stay here again, but ask for a better room.

Gettysburg is a huge military battlefield however military and veterans are not thanked or discounted on the weekends at this location. In fact Pat at the front desk specifically told us quote," we do not do military discounts on the weekend." Seriously?! Only during the week you can be recognized in of all cities at this hotel?! Not very patriotic and very very sad. On top of that the clean room 360 that was shown to us was 9x9 with queen and 9x9 with pull out couch. Smaller than hotels that we have stayed at in NYC. They wanted to charge $229 plus tax and pay your own parking. I guess they feel that's fair for the location not the service. We however past to go where military was appreciated all the time- the Wyndham for half the price. Little outside the city but better service.

Thank you for taking time to comment on your experience with us. I’m sincerely sorry that it wasn't more a positive one. Our discounts and reduced rates, including a military discount, are only available Sunday through Thursday. We do make an exception for active duty military with their military ID and military travel orders or proof of official duty status by extending a discount on Friday and Saturday. Our hotel has nearly 20 different room configurations and I’m sorry that a more appropriate room for your consideration was not presented. Many rooms offer greater spaciousness and a more open floor plan but we are limited based on availability for those arriving at our hotel without a pre-existing reservation. In this instance I suspect high occupancy limited our availability of other room types. I hope that you will consider a stay with us in the future when visiting the Gettysburg and I thank you for your service to our country.

We stumbled across this beautiful place late in the afternoon, as we wandered through Gettysburg planning on serious sightseeing of the battlefield the next day. Although the room rate was a little higher than we wanted to spend, the fact it was built originally in the 18th century, and was right on the square (traffic circle), and was central to the downtown area, we decided to stay two nights.

Parking was inconvenient and expensive, but less than downtown Atlanta at $30/day with valets. We were able to catch a free shuttle a block away that took us to the battlefield, to a nearby restaurant at the end of the day, and then right back in front of the hotel after dinner. Thanks to Gettysburg College.

Our room was very large with a comfortable king sized bed, the water-jet tub in the bathroom, and lots of closet space.

We overlooked the square, which was a sales point for us, but I did not plan on how much traffic there would be all night. Including very loud bar patrons at all hours. This is a major traffic hub, and there are 18 wheelers all night long. The view is fascinating, but not quiet.

The fireplace was a nice touch and would be really necessary during a cold winter, as none of the windows fit well.

We ate both breakfasts and one dinner at the restaurant in house, and thought it was a bit pricey, and not especially well served. The staff seems to know a lot about the food, but not that coffee cups should be kept refilled. Also, like so many places, they think a serving of juice in the morning should be 16 ounces. Otherwise, all other servings are on the skimpy side. Nice patio, and attractive bar, although we did not use either.

The public rooms are well appointed and comfortable.

The staff are all very friendly, but we could have probable saved at least $ 200. at a nearby Marriott Courtyard or Holiday Inn Express.

Room Tip: Stay in the back away from the "square" if you want to sleep.

We stayed at the Gettysburg Hotel for one night while visiting the area and Gettysburg College. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and is designated a historic hotel. Check in was very easy. We were checked in and off to our room in a matter of minutes. There are designated parking spots in front of the hotel for guest who are checking in. I asked for someone to help us bring our bags in and a valet was provided within seconds. Once the bags were taken to the room, we needed to move the car to the public parking garage. This is the only drawback to the hotel. The parking in the public garage is $10 for 24 hours. While this was not a huge fee, I felt the hotel should have validated parking for its guests.
The room was very spacious and super clean. We had a 2 queen bed room. The bathroom was very large and even had a heat lamp. I have not seen a heat lamp in a hotel room for a long time. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The room also included a refrigerator and a coffee maker. The hallways were clean and quiet. We had a good night sleep here.
The breakfast was not included in the room rate which was also another drawback. We ate breakfast at One Lincoln Square. The service was quick and the prices were very reasonable. However, the food was just fair. The scrambled eggs were very runny. I would have expected better, but it was adequate. I asked the woman at check in about vouchers for breakfast and she said the hotel does not provide them. Perhaps, they should consider doing so.
The hotel was very centrally located and you could walk just about anywhere around town from there. I would definitely stay here again and hope to return to Gettysburg often.

What a wonderful town! The hotel was quant and in a great location to the heart of the town. Rooms spacious and clean. Bar lounge was comfortable and had a great old world environment. Will stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: Enjoy the view of the town. Get a high floor room.

Myself and my 11 year old son just stayed here for 2 days in late August 2014. We booked our room on hotels.com at a great rate. We paid $130 for both nights in a suit with a king bed and jacuzzi tub. The room was huge and faced the square so you had great views both day and night. Even though there were other children in the hotel, you could never hear anyone and it was very comfortable. Lastly, the bed was the best we had ever slept on and the linens and pillows were soft and plush. The only tiny complaints that I have are that the picture of the room it said we booked was different than what was on the hotel's website and hotels.com. Also, there are no pictures of the roof top pool either. Regardless, it was still amazing and the pool was small but typical and great for kids. We did not eat at the restaurant as I thought the prices were a bit high. I do regret that as I'm sure we would have paid roughly the same price for breakfast as we did at Perkins (which by the way was awful) but it would have been 10 times better. I would stay here anytime!!

Lovely, Lovely hotel, in the heart of Gettysburg.
Extremely helpful staff.
Was hoping for a little paranormal activity from the resident spirit.
None.
Management does not admit to any paranormal activity...but they're there.

Room Tip: Third floor is apparently famous for paranormal activity.
