“Go for drinks in the pub and eat your meals elsewhere”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

The indoor tavern and the outdoor patio and bar are charming. The tavern is centrally located and easy to walk to from major sites. The waitresses are dressed in period clothing and the tavern is decorated with memorabilia from the movie Gettysburg, as some scenes were filmed here and the cast and crew would often frequent the tavern after shooting. Despite all this going for it, the food was uninteresting and just ok. Thought they boast an authentic civil war menu, most of the items were usual fare with just fancy names. Only a handful of dishes were authentic. The Goober Peanut soup, though an authentic recipe, was not very good. Given all that it has going for it, overall the experience was a real disappointment.

“Good food and service”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

We ate here our first night in Gettysburg. The actual house and tavern were closed for a private party so we ate outside of the tavern. Food was excellent. Good menu and choice of many different sides. The pumpkin fritters are to die for!!! Kayla was our server. She was very friendly and efficient. Good experience all around!!

“Right in downtown Gettysburg....eat in the tavern”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Skip eating outside...go through the open eating area and go into the tavern. Take a booth on the far wall. Some memorabilia on one wall of the Movie "Gettysburg". Excellent service. Excellent Food. The broiled fish was awesome. Ate there 2 days in a row for lunch. Bartender is from Germany so if you throw a few words of German at her service goes from Very Very Good to EXCELLENT...LOL. Room feels like an old 19th century tavern. Nice and dark and cozy. They have daily specials.Waitress dresses in period costume and you really feel like you are in 1863. Whenever we visit Gettysburg this place is a MUST>

“Great place great food”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This house has a wall riddled with holes from mortar fire of the civil war. So you know it is full of history. They have a dining room, tavern, and outdoor seating. The place is so nostalgic. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. The staff dress in period costume. The food is spectacular. If you go you have to try the game pie, sweet potato pudding and pumpkin fritters. The prices are reasonable for dinks and food. They have beer on tap and a full bar. I would definitely go there again if I was ever in Gettysburg.

“Great Food -- Love this Place”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Ate here almost 20 yrs. ago on our visit to Gettysburg with our daughter. This year we brought our granddaughter and this restaurant was a must do. Food is very good and reasonably priced. Very quaint with period decor. I love this place. Reservations are a must during peak season.
