Food was excellent & authentic to Civil War time period. House beautiful & filled with interesting things to look at. The experience of eating a period meal served by staff in period costume & a house that was there during battle was cool. Game pie & pumpkin fritter were to die for. I was hesitant to try the game pie but am so glad I did.

I always stop in for a great burger when in town! The staff is friendly and can offer great tips about the area. The dressed for the 1860s , just adding to the great atmosphere of the Farnsworth house. On your way in the door, don't forget to look up at the exterior wall to see the bullet holes sustained during the battle of gettysburg 150 years ago. Inside the tavern is a large collection of props from the movie "Gettysburg" giving the patron plenty to look at during your short wait for a fantastic meal! Be sure to stop in this gem and order a cheeseburger!

We stopped here for dinner after a very long day at Gettysburg National Visitor's Center and Museum and tours of the battlefield until well after dark. We dined in the garden seating and were very well received this close to closing time. Wait staff was attentive and the food excellent. For all you true and cultured Southern gentlemen, I highly recommend placing a bar order for the General Lee.

We were headed to Dobbin House, but when we got there it looked very touristy. Our AAA book had recommended Farnsworth House, so we drove around the corner and it looked perfect, and was! The two small dining rooms are historic and atmospheric--a door in ours had a bullet hole from the battle. Our server was delightful, as was the meal. I had their specialty of game pie, and it was delicious. The various breads we got--the home-baked loaf they give you, plus other baked items that came with our meals--were delectable. My husband's steak was excellent. We wanted to try the desserts, but were so full that we simply didn't have room. We would definitely go back for lunch or dinner on another trip.

Staff was efficient and friendly, but the food wasn't anything outstanding considering the price. Located within walking distance of several shops.
