I made my first visit to the new Seminary Ridge Museum yesterday and I was not disappointed in the least. It lived up to the positive reviews I`ve read. However, The new hiking trail that allows visitors to access parts of the field previously off limits was a major disappointment...unless you`re truly interested in the history of the seminary. Very few of the 17 stops on the walking tour have anything to do with the battle of Gettysburg.

The new museum os fantastic. My daughter really enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. We did not do the cupola tour as my daughter was too young, however I do believe 29.99 is A little pricy to stand in a cupola that is a rebuild of the original where Buford stood... then again just my opinion. The museum is a great addition to the existing museums throughout this great town!

The Museum opened this year- and it was worth waiting for. They did a wonderful renovation and do a great job of depicting the life and times of the Battle. The tour is in 2 parts- the first is the four floor museum and the second part is the attic and cupola. You can do the museum with out doing the cupola. Unfortunately, the attic and cupola are not handicap accessible. But even I was able to make it, However, if you are afraid of heights you might want to avoid the cupola.

This place just opened in time for the 150 year celebration. It is not very well known yet as hardly anyone was there when visited late July. If you didn't know it was there, you may just drive on by as the Seminary is a major location of the Civil War in Gettysburg with lots of other sites to see. The museum is in same building as Buford's lookout point (shown in the movie, GETTYSBURG). The 3rd floor offers a "do-not-miss" attraction in my opinion. It presents some very graphic hospital scenes. Be prepared, its realistic!

Seminary ridge museum gives you an in depth view of Gettysburg's first days battle. For those who don't know about the first days battle, you can learn from sight, sound and interaction. For those familiar, you can always learn something new or relearn something you may have forgotten! The views from the attic and coppula are awe inspiring and you can actually see the places you have learned something about. A must see while in Gettysburg!!!!
