“Breakfast at the Gettysburg Family Restaurant”

We had breakfast at this restaurant a couple days ago. It was our first time there. The service was great and the waitress very pleasant. We had two breakfasts, including two coffees, for $11. there was plenty of parking. We will definitely dine there again.

“Homecooked goodness”

Nothing too excited or exotic, but excellent home cooked meals. A wide variety on the menu, appealing to a variety of age groups and taste buds. Great for tourists, locals, couples, and families.

“great food”

the food was great, it was home cooked meals and the prices are not that bad, like a family place to eat and its close to 3 hotels.

“Everything is frozen and tasteless”

Ate lunch here,the wait staff were nice and efficient. But that didn't make up for the absolutely terrible food. Everything comes from the freezer or a can. Evan the french fries, which are typically frozen, were undercooked, limp and cold. The chicken fried steak was frozen with thick, gelatinous "gravy" out of a can - ICK! The average age group was over 70, and they've obviously lost their taste buds but the price is right. So, if you're really old, can't taste anymore, and living on social security, this may be the place for you.

“What does it say if you are 60 & the youngest people in the restaurant?”

Last morning in Gettysburg June 4/13. Heard lots about this place, mixed reviews. It looks like everybody at "the home" comes here for breakfast, average age 75+, a traffic jam of walkers.But those old folks know something...
I can only say you get great value here. Mrs. had a pot of tea & a toasted western sandwich, I had coffee,4 slices of bacon with two large pancakes...bill was $9.40!!! & the food was great. If you are looking ( & willing to pay) for atmosphere this is the wrong place for you. However if you are looking for grandma's or ma's home cooking, clean premises, folksy & friendly wait staff, good food at a fair price, you won't find better around town.
