It's a real shame to see negative reviews on this restaurant - although, given how popular it is in Gettysburg, your experience can vary depending on how many people (and big groups) are dining at the same time as you are. My wife and I visit General PIckett's every time we're in town and it's remained our favorite place to eat time after time. While neither of us are big on buffets, this place has just about every possible type of food that one could want which makes it perfect for people who love variety, can't ever decide what one meal to order from a menu or have picky eaters in their party or bigger groups. We've always found the food very tasty and of great quality and appreciate the truly awesome selection. Service has never been an issue for us, nor has speed. On our last visit, we arrived at the same time as a HUGE group of middle school kids on a field trip so the restaurant got very crowded, loud and warm pretty fast. Surprisingly though, there was never a shortage of food as the staff kept the buffets well-stocked. We just love this place!

My boss recommended this to me and it was definitely worth it. It's not fancy and the food isn't gourmet by any stretch of the imagination, but for a $9 lunch it doesn't get much better if you want hearty comfort food. The all-you-can-eat buffet has a large salad bar, soups, chips & nachos, a big selection of meat and vegetable dishes, potatoes & gravies, and terrific desserts. Friendly, comfortable and a great deal for the money. I'd absolutely go back!

So, started out my first Gettysburg experience with my 13 year old daughter with Dinner at General Pickett's Buffet on July 10th. Seems so did a large number of Boy Scout Troops. Getting a spot to sit was not an issue, and Robin was a real treat with his knowledge of history right down to the presidents with ties to our city of origin. Food was so, so for the price, and was heavily picked over due to the clients of the day.

If you're hungry, and looking to fill up without spending a ton of money, this is a place to consider. It is not gourmet, in fact, since they don't label everything I wasn't quite sure what everything on the buffet was. But, there is a typical salad bar, two kinds of soup (that weren't too salty!), fresh bread and cornbread, lots of main dishes (the night we were there we had very good chicken, meatballs, ribs, etc), and desserts (jello, brownies, cakes). Again, nothing gourmet - just decent, fill your stomach, everyday food.
