We enjoyed lunch on a Friday afternoon at the peak on lunch hour. Parking was difficult to find but not impossible. We ate in the tavern and enjoyed the historic ambiance to kick off our visit to Gettysburg. Real candles burn on the tables and the area is dimly lit......servers are dressed for the historic time period. Food and service were both very good and pricing reasonable. Wish we had time to enjoy the tour but our stay in Gettysburg was too short.

We asked at the visitor center for a recommendation for a restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary. The very kind man said I have the perfect place. He sent us to the Dobbin House. It is the oldest building in Gettysburg and was part of the Underground Railroad. Building is restored to the period and servers are dressed in period attire. There is a restaurant in the house for fine dining and also in another part a tavern for more casual fare. We did the fine dining and it was wonderful. Every part of the experience was perfect. We will be making another trip to try the tavern. If you are in Gettysburg you should definitely plan a meal at this wonderful place!!

Our motel receptionist recommended the Dobbin House Tavern for dinner and we loved it! In the oldest building/home in Gettysburg, built in 1776 and owned back then by the Dobbins, the staff is dressed in period clothing, the furnishings are period, and the menu is in early English. The food was delicious, especially the Maryland crab cakes, and although a little pricey, it was worth it for the experience!

We stayed at the Oberlook II and had an amazing breakfast at the Dobbin House Tavern. The room was spacious and we loved the sitting area overlooking the street. Motorcycle and truck traffic noise was very loud in the afternoon. The air conditioning unit didn’t drown it out. A portable fan might block some of the noise. It was quieter at night. Someone parked in our parking spot. Better signage and marking off the spots might help.

Celebrated my 60th birthday at this historic inn. The setting was lovely. The food fresh and yummy. The homemade blue cheese dressing was out of this world, as were the crab stuffed shrimp. The costumed wait staff was very attentive and friends. Prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to the Gettysburg area.
