We belong to Friends of Gettysburg, which you can join at the visitor center, and the Rupp House is part of their historic sites. It is a must see for anyone visiting to see house this town survived the battle.

I believe this is also the building that houses the upstairs offices of the Friends of Gettysburg Foundation (well-worth joining, we got our membership before leaving Seattle for Gettysburg online). Very pleased with the staff who would answer questions and describe various parts of the house that had many interesting items (many drawers you could open to see medical instruments, bullets, etc.). They also have a great selection of Gettysburg apparel that is more reasonably priced (and excellent quality) than anywhere else in Gettysburg - very nice items to take home. After our self-guided tour (and mini-films, etc.) we sat out on the porch in old time rockers and just watched the traffic go by for awhile. It was really fun and it was all free! Thank you to the ex-police officer from Baltimore (and the younger gentleman) who answered our questions and made the Rupp House a special place to visit!

While wandering around Gettysburg we stumbled upon the Rupp House and decided to enter upon seeing the sign saying free. What a wonderful little find! The museum was set up to look like it did when the Rupp family lived there during the battle and had wonderful hands on exhibits that people of all ages enjoy. It wasn't the biggest museum in the world but offered a nice view of what the battle was like for the townspeople.

While visiting they had a living history site. The museum was great, very educational. We will be looking forward to many more events!

Visit the Rupp House Historic Center for an a fantastic walk-through museum right in town. Just two blocks from the square, the Rupp House Historic Center is FREE and open to the public. Lovely place to stop in and visit!
