Owner description: A walking tour that concludes inside a haunted house. Weekly special events include Midnight House Tours. Nightly walking tours are just the beginning. Gettysburg is a hotbed of ghostly activity and the spirits are mighty restless. Step inside the Haunted Orphanage, where innocent children were tortured by a cruel and abusive matron. Venture into the Jennie Wade House, site of the Battle's only civilian death, and where something lingers still... Ride the Ghost Bus to some of Gettysburg's most haunted landmarks or even host your own paranormal investigation. This is Ghostly Images of Gettysburg...where we step back and let the Spirits guide your experience. What will you see?

“Historically informative and entertaining”

I was a little worried about taking this tour, given some of the very negative reviews from previous contributors. But we had a really good time! Maybe it's the difference between the Jenny Wade and the Orphanage tours, I don't know. We did the Jenny Wade tour and were very pleased with it. We were the very last tour for the season, so we had a nice, small group, only six of us. As it was about 30 degrees outside with a brutal wind, the bulk of the exterior walking tour was curtailed and we went inside. None of us minded one bit! Our guide was very knowledgeable about both the intricate details of the battle as well as that of Jenny Wade and both her friends and family. None of the stroytelling was hammed up to make it spookier (or cheesier) like other ghost tours sometimes do. He was great at addressing questions as they came up. But the best part was in the cellar when he played EVP recordings for us! Those were incredible and totally worth the price of the tour! We want to come back with friends and family and do it again along with the orphanage tour. We had nothing but a good experience here with Ghostly Images!

“Total Rip-Off SAVE YOUR MONEY!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

My wife, myself, and another couple signed up for what was supposed to be a 45 minute outside ghost tour around town followed by 45 minutes in the haunted orphanage cellar. Instead, they split the very large group into two and had one group in the basement for 45 minutes followed by another 45 minutes in an upstairs room of the same building. While we were in the basement, we heard the story of the orphanage (which took about five minutes to say) and then spent the remainder of the time listening to this "medium" talk about the tools of her trade, bringing home ghosts because she was annoyed at her husband, and then turning the lights off for about 15 minutes and telling the group to take pictures in the dark (think strobe-light effect) in the hopes of capturing a ghost. It was a colossal farce and not remotely scary, spooky, informative, or even funny. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse our group moved upstairs to this room with some kind of meadow scene along the wall only to hear most of the same story again followed by another 15 minutes of camera flashes in the dark. All of this and then repeated requests for tips to the speakers. This place should be embarrassed for taking the money they did.

These tours are the best tours in Gettysburg! They don't take you on the main road in which your tour guide is muffled by the sound of constant oncoming traffic, they take you INSIDE places the the Jennie Wade House and the haunted Orphanage. These were the two tours I went on, and let me tell you they were both excellent! The guides were amazing and really made the tours scary and we got to learn of each place's tragic history along with its ghostly tales. I would definitely go on these tours again. They are the BEST!

“Dull & Tedious!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

My husband and I went on the midnight tour of the orphanage after reading a brochure where for the frist 45 minutes you would be on an outside tour and then go into the orphanage for the last 45 minutes and be in the orphanage at midnight. We thought it would be fun to go inside a "haunted" building and be there at midnight. There was also a full moon the night we went which added to the suspense and fun. However, the entire first 45 mintues was sitting on benches in a pitch black room of the main floor of the orphanage where a "guide" told stories of how the children who once stayed here in the 1860's were tortured by Rosa Carmichael who ran the orphanage at that time. The "guide" stopped briefly saying "why aren't you taking pictures"? Everyone started taking pictures of the dark room and then you could see it was made to look like a forest. It was all very strange and no tour outdoors.

The last 45 minutes was spent in the basement which was set up with more benches and in one corner toys were sitting on a table. The lights go out and once again sitting in pitch black and more stories of torture of the children. The "guide" set up several hand held ghost detecting devices on the bench and if lights flashed on it or made beeping sounds that meant a ghost was present. Of course the devices flashed and beeped which we figured the "guide" set the device up to do this.

We really didn't expect to see a ghost, but thought the tour would be interesting, entertaining and fun. Instead it was sitting on hard benches in total darkness and very boring.

We were very disappointed in this tour. Don't waste your time/money on this midnight tour but try the many other tours in town. We've been on the Ghosts of Gettysburg tours and they are very interesting and fun.

“Not what I expected.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

We took the "Ghostly encounters" tour of the orphanage. We followed the "ghost of Rosa Carmichael" around the orphanage, where she yells at imaginary children and at times, people in the tour. You end the tour down in the cellar where she did all sorts of horrible things to the orphans.

The whole thing felt a little disrespectful. They made up a lot of Rosa's story to dramatize it, and that was strange to me. I feel like there's a fine line there.

They then take you into the cellar and do some more "acting" before breaking character. That is when the tour turned ok. The guide then gave some very interesting info. I would have liked this much better if this was the trend through the whole tour. The acting bit was hokey.

Also, they only toured the orphanage. I would have loved to tour the town and hear all of the stories behind the different buildings. This was not it at all.

Do a lot of research on what tour you want before you take it!

I don't think I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Thank Erin H
