I visit Gettysburg twice a year and always wanted to stay here. It costs more than the chains but is worth it. But watch out, pack light because no elevator and you shlep your bags up 3 flights of stairs. The room was great and warm and the bed huge and comfy. Shower nozzle rated a 4 out of 10, although it was a Moen. The in room fridge has a freezer compartment which was great for getting wine cold quickly. Most fridges are luke warm. Reception was fine, not great, and parking lot good. No food served here but Dunlop Diner is across the street from the parking lot. You can walk to downtown GBurg from here but it is a trek of 5-7 blocks. I dont think you can walk to the University from here, but I would try it because I walk alot. The downstairs bar was not open for our nights (Mon & Tues) but it was no big deal. It is a nice extra touch. Go here before you try the Hilton, Whndham, Comfort Inn chains. You will enjoy it much and we certainly did. We froze at the 150th Gettysburg Address Ceremony and were so glad to get back to the room at 11am, the room had been done and the hot shower thawed us out. I hope to return next year and would stay here.
