Owner description: See the ENTIRE battlefield at one time and watch the troop movements for ALL three days of battle. The battlefield covers 6,000 acres, an area large enough to be difficult to visualize. The Gettysburg Diorama will put the battle into perspective when you see the ENTIRE battlefield as it appeared in 1863. Carefully researched and meticulously assembled, the Diorama contains over 20,000 hand-painted soldiers, horses, cannons and buildings. Picture the battle through the eyes of Generals Meade and Lee as a narrative unfolds in miniature with a light and sound effects experience you won't forget.

Got to see the diorama for the first time during my last trip. Such a neat idea and reminds me of the electric map from the old visitor's center when I was a kid.

THANK YOU for saying that the Gettysburg Diorama was a cool experience!!
Now that the electric map is no longer available in Gettysburg, the Gettysburg Diorama is a must see to understand the layout of the battlefield and the troop movements.

A must see attraction. Gives viewers the opportunity to see all 3 days of the battle and where troops and weapons were moved. A thourough and complete look at the battle and strategies used to conduct the battle.

...but we were a little bored with the presentation. No doubt some very talented artist crafted the diorama and their work is meticulously detailed! The diorama certainly offers a bird's eye view of the battles.

The program may be a little long for some, be we try to explain as much as we can to give a good understand of the battle. Gettysburg was a three day battle and there's so much to tell about the conflict. Many of our reviews mentioned that the Diorama gave them a better understanding of the layout of the battlefield and the program, showing the troop movements,
put it all together for them.

This is a must see! The new visitors center offers a variety of attactions at reasonable rates (check out AAA discounts). The artifacts on display are amazing and get you thinking about who might have been carrying them. The Cyclorama is an AWESOME presentation. It surrounds you and puts you "in the thick" of battle. Some smaller children may be frightened of the cannon fire on the sound track.
You will not regret seeing this one.

You have us confused with the Cyclorama. The Gettysburg Diorama is an 800 sq ft model of the ENTIRE battlefield and the 30 min program takes you through ALL three days of battle.
The Diorama is a must see as well, for it is the ONLY place in Gettysburg to see the batttlefield at one time as the program explains the troop movements.
Next time your in Gettysburg check us out!

This a great place to go for an overview of the battle of Gettysburg. It is extremely well done! The painted Mural blends right in with the diorama so that you can't tell where the painting ends and the diorama begins!
