We will definitely be going back to El Costeno! Chef Arturo and his team were very welcoming and we loved sitting on their large balcony overlooking York Street. BYOB is inconvenient yet saves you big money that you can spend on their great food.

The Taco Salad was very good. Not overly spicy. We just called in a takeout order and picked it up. It was ready very quickly

We loved the outdoor seating, the excellent service and amazing food! We said we wanted something spicy and that is what we got!

This small restaurant features very reasonably priced southern Mexico dishes. Having worked and traveled in Mexico for a number of years I can say "this is the real thing". I had the cochinita pibil and my wife the steak tacos. The don't serve alcohol but you can buy wine nearby at the Adams Country Winery or bring your own cervesa and there is no corkage. Dinner for 2 was $40 including a generous tip after the chef revealed a few ingredients of his marinated onions.
Congratulations El Costeno !!!

Kids had great meals. Salsa was fresh and had wonderful taste. Love the ability for BYOB. they don't serve alcohol but you are allowed to purchase a good local brew or local wine selection from right up the street and bring it to your meal here. Love that. Meal was authentic. A little crowded inside but we ate outside on their nice porch though it was a little chilly. Here for weekend vacation so wanted to enjoy street scenes.
