I had read "Killer Angels" and was traveling in VA so decided to take a trip up to see Gettysburg. I got there a little late for any scheduled bus tour but was able to have a guide drive my rental around and give me information about each part of the battlefield and town. My guide was very informative and answered all of my questions. He was very knowledgeable. If you are planning to take a trip to Gettysburg definitely read "Killer Angels" first. The places you visit will have even more meaning and perspective. Definitely worth the visit!

If you have any interest in American history, you should make time to see this wonderful museum. But wear your walking shoes. The museum has an amazing collection of artifacts. Make sure you give yourself enough time to go through the place carefully. We visited a few weeks before thanksgiving and there were no crowds, but it still took us a couple of hours just to work our way through the museum. And then another couple of hours to drive around through the battlefield itself. A wonderful experience.

The visitors center provides an excellent opportunity to begin a visit to Gettysburg. The film is informative and gives insight to what took place during the battle. The museum provides many interactive displays which help explain many aspects of the war. The newly restored cyclorama is breathtaking. This is a wonderful experience for all the family.

We have always enjoyed seeing the cyclorama. We attended a fantastic evening lecture on the history of the painting. Now we look at the painting with renewed interest and see many hidden detail incorporated into the painting.

The Cyclorama was included with our combo ticket and it was stunning. A painting in the round depicting the battle. It was so beautiful. The short film and Cyclorama help to set the scene vor my kids before we went on the battlefield bus tour. It was a great way to start our time exploring Gettysburg.
