Description: Gettysburg's only Irish-owned and operated pub offers a genuine taste of Ireland through "Ceol, cainte agus craic" Music, talk & fun. Open 7 days for lunch & dinner, The Garryowen, or "The GO" as it's know to our regulars, is as inviting as any pub found back in the old country with friendly service, a large selection of Irish whiskies, the best of Ireland's draft beers, and the perfect pour of Guinness which is complimented with a carefully picked selection of international and domestic premium beers, wines and spirits. Our kitchen prepares the most authentic Irish fare in the area from the owners' family recipes, with many ingredients imported directly from Ireland. Paired with traditional pub fare, made in house daily from scratch with local ingredients where possible. Our menu is sure to satisfy the most discerning of tastes. Enjoy your meal in our cozy dining room, by the fireplace or at the bar.The first and third Sundays of each month are a special treat for lovers of Irish music, with a traditional 'Seisun' from 2 til 5pm. Reservations are highly recommended.

“avg food / bad waitress”

I want to give kudos to the hostess and to the red head behind the bar - both were very friendly . Waited for a table, only to be sat in the next room right behind the bar in a dark corner. We should have stayed at the bar. Our waitress forgot was inattentive. We had to get her attention (after ordering food and waiting about 15- 20 mins) got here attention to let her know she never brought out my water and the BF wanted another drink. Waited an usually long time for food. Shepard pie was okay - could have been hotter. My fish was good and hot - fries were bland and not hot. Not sure why people love this place - it was a boring local bar with an Irish theme. Really don't waste your time.

“Nice folks, OK food but tardy service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014 via mobile

Busy place. Luckily we made a reservation as without it there were half hour + waits. Five of us enjoyed the draft selection and we're served by friendly staff. Drinks were served quickly but entrees were long in coming. The Shepherd's pie was not very worthy, the Bangers and Mash was quite tasty, although served luke warm, and the pulled pork was pretty good.

“Very well done”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

We were here for lunch on a cold rainy day. We had their potato leek soup, tomato crab soup, shepards pie and ruebens. Not a fancy presentation just hardy fresh food. The atmosphere was a little dark but it gave you the feeling you weren't in the US anymore. Well done just hire more servers!

“One of the best in Gettysburg”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

This is one of our favorite restaurants - not because of the great beer choices - but rather because of the great food. Always unique and delicious soups! The reuben is one my favorites on the menu. You won't be disappointed with a meal at Garryowen

“Traditional and creative fare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

Living only 19 miles from the pub, I've been going to Garryowen for a few years now, and have evolved into having lunch there every weekend, minimum. In addition to traditional Irish fare, they have a creativity in the kitchen that adds dishes not found elsewhere. The Benburb burger is made from lamb, another burger is made from pork, the mussels are excellent and the hot whiskey sandwich is a culinary delight if you ask them to prepare it with bangers instead of the sausages it normally comes with. Everything on the menu is great, and I'm particularly partial to the black pudding. There is also a supurb beer selection, and they are working on creating one of the largest whiskey menus one will ever find in a public house. If you find yourself in Gettysburg and don't stop into Garryowen, it's your misfortune.
