Description: Gettysburg's only Irish-owned and operated pub offers a genuine taste of Ireland through "Ceol, cainte agus craic" Music, talk & fun. Open 7 days for lunch & dinner, The Garryowen, or "The GO" as it's know to our regulars, is as inviting as any pub found back in the old country with friendly service, a large selection of Irish whiskies, the best of Ireland's draft beers, and the perfect pour of Guinness which is complimented with a carefully picked selection of international and domestic premium beers, wines and spirits. Our kitchen prepares the most authentic Irish fare in the area from the owners' family recipes, with many ingredients imported directly from Ireland. Paired with traditional pub fare, made in house daily from scratch with local ingredients where possible. Our menu is sure to satisfy the most discerning of tastes. Enjoy your meal in our cozy dining room, by the fireplace or at the bar.The first and third Sundays of each month are a special treat for lovers of Irish music, with a traditional 'Seisun' from 2 til 5pm. Reservations are highly recommended.

Bring a girdle, because you will need it once you start trying to digest the heavy losers on this menu.

Here at the Garryowen we aim to serve the very best in gastro pub dishes we have rounded out our menu with a good balance of traditional Irish fare as well as some other really great dishes such as 'Magners Glazed Scallops' and 'Hereford Steak & Eggs' all served with fresh local vegetables. We have a good selection of lighter salads such as the 'Salmon Roulade' featuring lump crab meat rolled in Scottish smoked salmon served with house-made raspberry pine nut vinaigrette and some terrific appetizers such as ‘Steamed Mussels’ and ‘Scotch Eggs’. Our kitchen makes three house-made soups every day that utilize local and seasonal ingredients. The Garryowen strives for every customer’s experience to be the best it can be and were disappointed that you found our menu ‘too heavy’ for your liking.

“LOVE this pub/restaurant!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

Not only is the food incredible here, but the staff is so accomodating! We stayed across the street at the Tate House, and walked across here for some brew! They've got quite a great assortment of brew..and when we found out that the 7-11 doesnt sell beer, we bought it from Garryowens Pub. They had live music going on also...quite a lively establishment!!! Really cool inside and out, i'm sure there is some great history behind this building but when we were there it was fun to be had by all !!!

“Popular for a reason!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

This place was crowded even on a Tuesday night - the bar area was full of locals. Decor is eclectic Irish neighborhood pub, in what looks an old row house. There isn't a hostess stand - you basically have to get the attention of the bartender. She saw us and said there was a 45 minute wait for the dining room or 2 seats down at the end of the bar. We jumped on that. The menu is more than typical Irish pub fare. I had the mussels in a white wine broth and my husband had the sampler platter appetizer. Everything was terrific and the bartender took great care of us. I would recommend a stop here!
