This is an easy and quick stop after touring the battlefield, the final resting place of the Union soldiers. It is most well known for the location where Lincoln gave his famous address. Worth the visit!

I make it a point to stop here every time I'm in Gettysburg and every time, no matter the time of year or how many people are touring the cemetery it's always peacefully and respectfully quiet. It's worth a stop to see the soldier's statute in the center of the cemetery and to stop and read all of the little plaques throughout the cemetery. Also stop to see the monument dedicated to where Lincoln presented the Gettysburg address.

I have visited the Cemetery many, many times, and have never been able to remain unmoved. My last visit was for Dedication Day 2013, the 150th anniversary of its dedication and President Lincoln's timeless address. To stand and remember that the men - many little more than boys - who lie beneath these stones died to preserve the unity of this country and to bring about that "new birth of freedom", no one with a soul could not be touched.

Just couldn't believe how many had to be buried and how people came from all over, many from many miles away, to help bury the soldiers.

Take your time when going to this attraction. There are some impressive statuaries to be seen and it's just such a solemn place to remember all that this fallen soldiers gave up for our union. We went on what must have been one of the hottest days of the summer. Do remember to take along water as Gettysburg can be very humid. This all lent to our experiencing what the fallen here might have experienced during that terrible three days. I didn't notice anyone taking a picture of Elizabeth Thorn, the statue dedicated to the women who nursed our soldiers. I've added that to this collection If you have an inclination, check out her story.
