Arlington and the National Cemetery here are something all Americans should visit at least once, awesome setting, not much more to say, if you know anything about history just go there and walk around there

“Consecrated Ground”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

The Soldiers National monument is a must see. My wife and I visited it quickly while waiting to hop on our Gettysburg Battlefield Tour which starts right across the street. We went back again for a longer visit. The design of the monument and the layout of the grounds are striking. Unfortunately the exact location of Lincoln when he delivered his powerful address is lost to the ages. Near the monument is the best anyone can tell you. There is a ceremonial marker to the address off a few hundred yards but don't be fooled, that wasn't where the address was delivered. You'll also be struck by the NY monument. Perhaps the most powerful of them all are the plain small markers that merely tell you how many soldiers (unnamed) from each state lay beneath.

“Must Do!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

A hauntingly sorrowful yet beautiful sight. Well worth the stop. The paths that lead you around the cemetery are nicely paved and an easy stroll. Be mindful of the solemn nature of this location. The spot where Lincoln gave his address is now marked by a huge monument. Huge trees add to the beauty of this resting place and historic location.

“Must see in Gettysburg”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

If you go to Gettysburg you have to go to the national cemetery. You can't bring your pets, but you can leave your furry friends in the car for 10-15 minutes (not in summer though!) You can see where Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. Don't be confused by the big stone wall with Lincoln's face. The giant memorial (3-4 stories tall) is actually the location of the address. It's another peaceful walk, and something essential for your Gettysburg vacation
