Owner description: The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

Take a walk up to Little Round Top to see what the Confederates were up against. Seeing the real battlefield really helps you understand what's written in the history books and shown in the movies.

love the views, the history and absolutely love the visitors center. We go at least once a month. The feel changes with the season but I getr a renewed sense of respect and nostalgia each time I go.

I recently visited Gettysburg National Military Park on a beautiful sunny March day and took my bicycle along to do the automobile tour of the Park. It is 24 miles in length and takes you on a self-guided tour utilizing the map that I received at the Visitors Center. The road conditions were good , but be warned , it is rather hilly , even though none of the climbs were outrageous , and there were some nice downhills. It is a cool way to tour the battlefields. The traffic was not bad . . . not even in the town of Gettysburg. Unfortunately , there was only a restroom at the Visitors Center and the other public restrooms were closed for the season (lots of trees around though). It is a great bike ride . . . a good workout and also historic !

It was a little confusing at first but we did our own tour of it and it was so beautiful. Just too cold for comfort so don't forget hot chocolate

We had a good time at the park. We spent time going thru ourselves with the dvd guided tour. You can get this at the park museum and travel at your own pace. We liked doing that. However, next trip we want to take the open bus tour, which looked fun. If you like history about the civil war this is the place for you. You can learn a lot here. The panorama (which is upstairs) is a painting of the war that lights up and is really nice. I recommend that if you go to Gettysburg, this is a must stop and see.
