Owner description: The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

Anything you want to know about Gettysburg is here...except for the one thing I wanted to experience the most. To stand where Lincoln gave the address. They don't seem to have that place exactly pinpointed. The Park is HUGE. This will take almost an entire day to see it and definitely recommend getting the guide that drives your car around the site.

My husband and I spent an entire day visiting the park and taking pictures. Everywhere we went there were volunteers offering information which made our trip so much more pleasant. It is a must see for anyone interested in the Battle of Gettysburg.

Be sure to get a battlefield guide that drives your car and drives you through the battlefield it is well worth the money. My husband and I did the 3 hour tour and our guide Bob was a wonderful guide. The information was very informative and gives you a real good perspective on the battle. Also, we stayed at the Keystone Inn Bed & Breakfast and our hosts Marj and Mike Day were very helpful with information about what to do in Gettysburg. Also the B & B has a wonderful library to use while staying there. In addition, the visitor center at the Military Park has a wonderful book store with many good reference books on the civil war.
