Owner description: The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

The Civil War battles here put this town on the map. The visitor center offers a lot, but take your own driving tour. The battle fields are where the history is located and there is a lot of ground to cover. Make some stops and get out and look around. There is not as much history like this in the United States compared to other countries, so walk around and soak it all in.

The last time I was at Gettysburg was before they added the new visitors center. The new center is a huge improvement, especially the Cyclorama. The work they are doing to recreate the conditions on the battlefield is a change but a good change.
If you remember Eisenhower be sure you take the time and visit the farm. You will appreciate the times and the man.

I love the park and learn more each time I visit. Can not get the full history in just 1 or 2 visits. I am there a few times each year.
