“Very Basic Bed and Breakfast”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

My wife and I have stayed in literally dozens of Bed and Breakfasts throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each one is different. We spent 3 nights here in May, 2012. The positives: the location is right in the downtown with parking behind the inn. We walked to dinner each evening and strolled around town after dinner looking in shops, etc. The room was clean with fresh towels, etc. The rates were very reasonable. The negatives: The room was very basic with no hair dryer, windows would not open, owners did not live on the premises(they were only available between 10 AM and 5 PM in their shop, which doesn't help for securing info., etc.). The do it yourself kitchen was basic cold cereal, frozen muffins thawing, etc. As travelers say, "You get what ypou pay for".

This wasn't the plushest of B&B's, but if you just need a clean place to hang your hat for the evening; this may be great for you! The room was nice and the bed was comfy. The breakfast room was decent enough, but nothing appealed to us. There were a lot of 'sweets' and pre-packaged foods. If you like decaf coffee, you'll have to grab a cup from a nearby coffee shop. However, this place was within walking distance to many attractions and shops. We enjoyed our stay overall.

Best place to stay in Gettysburg! Great location. Within walking distance to shops, the Dobbin house, and points of interest. There are a few Ghost tours that start nearby. The B&B has private parking in back. Loaded with antiques, the place itself is fun to explore! The room was very comfortable and immaculate. Bathroom was beautiful too! The owner Barbara was beyond friendly and accommodating. Made us feel welcome. Free wifi available. Had 24 hour snacks and refreshments, convenient for late night munchies. You'll never know, you might meet a friendly ghost while having a midnight snack! Will be back here to stay for sure! Thanks Barbara for a great stay!

My family just returned from our second stay at this lovely B&B. You can't pick a better location for visiting downtown Gettysburg. The place has tons of charm and is immaculatel clean.

You can walk to all the lovely shops and attractions. Give A Sentimental Journey a try!

If you go to Gettysburg, definitely stay here. It is located in the center of town with private parking in back. From this location, you can walk Gettysburg and see lots of the town historic sites - the square, the depot, the college, historic markers, and historic homes. It is a short drive to the visitor's center, battlefield and cemetery.

The owners are delightful. You feel as if you have stepped back in time with all of the antiques and decorations. The rooms are clean and nice. The serve yourself breakfast and snack area is absolutey wonderful. You can eat breakfast on your schedule, and there are always snacks and drinks available when you return at night. Wonderful selection.

After our stay, we received a gift certificate in the mail for a discount on a future stay. A very nice touch. Again, I absolutely recommend this place. I compared the bed and breakfasts in the area, and this place is a steal.

My husband and I stayed here while on our honeymoon in Gettysburg and it was by far the best b&b I've ever been to. It felt like we were staying in a museum with all of the antiques around, which we loved. The 24 hour breakfast food is a godsend because we could stop in a grab a snack any time we were hungry. Probably the best thing about A Sentimental Journey is that it's right in the middle of everything, so we didn't even have to move our car all week. Steve and Barbra are so sweet too. They even bought us a wedding card since they knew we were on our honeymoon. We plan to come back here every time we're in Gettysburg.

Charmingly decorated and cozy. Quiet room - never heard our neighbors. Continental breakfast - kitchen was open 24 hours a day and well stocked with nuritious breakfast foods as well as loads of yummy danish and snacks. Never had to move our vehicle. Easy walk to downtown, shops and restaurants.
