“Interesting yet unexciting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2014

While the Eisenhower NHS is an interesting two-hour diversion, it offers little to get excited about. The context of the Eisenhower years in office is given short shrift, and, other than a few introductory comments outside and inside the house by park rangers, you're pretty much left on your own.

“Neat spot for a side trip”

Get a close up look at retirement life for Ike and Mamie, catch the bus at the visitor and plan about an hour to tour the house and grounds.

“Rich history from a great president”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

Many people don't realize that Ike retired to his Gettysburg house. Don't miss this place. The tour that we were on was small, so it felt more accessible. No pictures aloud, so don't plan on it.

“An Historic Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2014 via mobile

The tickets are about $8 that you purchase at the Gettysburg Visitors Center and take a narrated bus over and back. You will be greeted by an informative NPS Ranger and given some historical background then led into the house to be met by a well-informed docent who takes you through a portion of the first floor. The remainder of the house is self-guided. Stop and look in the barn side windows to see his cars and famous golf cart. There is a small museum/bookstore in a separate building at the end of the tour. If you have small children ask about the Jr. Secret Service activity and a badge. Both are free. Allow 2 hours. Check online for times.

“Gettysburg diversion.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2014

While at the Gettysburg Visitors' Center catch the bus over to Eisenhower's farm for a brief visit. See memorabilia, their retirement home decorated in typical 1950's style, the Secret Service shack, and walk the farmland. Well worth if you remember when Ike was president.
