This hotel is in a great spot, close to everything. We parked the car for two days and were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We plan on returning again next year and this will be our hotel of choice.

On our way home from dropping our daughter at camp, we decided to make a stop and spend a day touring Gettysburg. Having done a quick TripAdvisor check prior to leaving, I knew that the Travelodge was #6 on the Gettysburg hotel list. We stopped at the desk in the late afternoon; a room was available and the price was right. The clerk at the desk was very pleasant. The hotel is in a convenient location, within walking distance of the cemetery, many of the monuments and the downtown shopping and restaurant area. The room, though not that of a 5 star hotel, was neat and clean, the bed was comfortable. Our only negative was the noise - it was quite noisy throughout the night (mostly doors slamming) and we were awaken quite early when the slamming doors started again. However, we blame this on rude guests, not the fault of the hotel. The continental breakfast was not as nice as is offered at a Hampton (our usual choice of hotel) but adequate. The food was fresh and the area clean. For the price, it was a great hotel and we will return!

I stayed at this hotel in September with my 2 dogs. The staff was very welcoming. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the battlefield and the shopping area. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for two nights on our trip to Gettysburg. The location is so close to everything. We were .9 miles down the road from the Battlefield Visitors Center. It took us about a whole minute to drive there. It is also within walking distance to many restaurants and shops and within walking distance to the Soldiers National Cemetery. We walked to Lincoln Square in about 15 minutes. That was well worth it because the parking can be a bit of an issue at times. Plus we didn't have to worry about feeding a meter! It was a really nice walk - a straight shot - to the square. You walk through history.

SERVICE: We found the service of the people at the front desk was wonderful. When we first arrived, there was construction going on right next door. They were re-doing Steinwehr Ave 24/7 so there was heavy machinery and construction noise all of the time. (This is scheduled to be completed by June 10 I think. Just ask.) The woman at the front desk on check in told us about the noise and changed us from our non-smoking queen room that was right next to the construction to a non-smoking king room on the other side away from the construction. THANK YOU!!!!! Each and every time we walked in the door to the lobby - and we were in and out a lot - they greeted us with a friendly hello and a big smile. Very pleasant. Always ready to help if needed.

ROOM: Very clean, very comfortable. When we were there the temperature reached a HOT 95 degrees and very muggy. The air conditioner worked beautifully and kept us completely comfortable all night. The bed was comfortable. My husband liked their pillows (I always bring my own). We had approximately 5 pillows. The room was very spacious. Shower was good - no problem with hot water. We had a mini fridge in the room. We also had a safe you could use, but we chose not to. We didn't have anything to actually put into it.

SAFETY: We always felt safe walking the streets of Gettysburg, and safe in our area of the hotel. The hotel locks the door at around 11 pm and you must use your hotel key to enter. We walked at 11:00 pm and felt safe. People were around. We did go during a less busy time but were people out walking. Plus the weather cooled at night enough to be out. We saw females walking alone, mostly walking their dogs at night, so we figured it must be pretty safe.

BREAKFAST: If you are looking for fancy, go to a restaurant. The coffee was good. There was juices, coffee, bagels, english muffins, pre-made waffles to toast, fruit, cereals, oatmeal, mini muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cream cheese and jellies. This is enough to fill you up, simple and good. And the price was right! It's free!

There was a computer in the lobby for guests to use.

There is a restaurant right next door, but we didn't go there. We did go to O'Rorkes Pub and Eatery a few steps away. The food there is VERY GOOD. The service is a little slow, but worth the wait. Plus they had a really good beer special - $1.25 Yuengling draft pint!

All in all, we were extremely pleased with the hotel. it is basic, no frills, but clean and updated. VERY convenient to EVERYTHING!!! We will definitely stay again when in Gettysburg. (My husband is already asking when we can return, two days was not enough to see all the sights.)

My husband and I frequent Gettysburg, in fact this was our 9th trip. We had never stayed at this hotel so we thought we'd give it a try.
The rooms were very clean and comfy, the front desk clerk even called us the second day to see how our room was and if it was to our liking.
The location couldn't be better, right in the middle of the town, within walking distance of most resteraunts and attractions.
Front desk staff were very friendly and accomadating. Having said all that......the only two draw backs to this hotel is the parking and the breakfast.
Parking is very tight and difficult to get in and out, however I did hear that this hotel purchased some more parking area, may inquire about that.
The breakfast is non existant, very limited.....few dry muffins milk and juices. We actually ended up going to a local supermarket and buying some breakfast items.
Outside of those two draw backs, EXCELLENT.

We visit Gettysburg 2-3 times per year and have stayed at this hotel many times. It is nice because we can take our dogs there. They provide a free breakfast - muffins, bagels, cereal, fruit, etc. The staff are friendly for the most part. However, we have seen a decline in the cleanliness of the rooms. They really need to get back to where they used to be with that. The only real problem we have is that we make our reservations way in advance of our trips and we always request either a certain room or a certain side of the building and we have yet to get what we request. They know that we are repeat customers and we would like to think that would mean something and perhaps we could get the room and or side of the building that we ask for.

We had an unexpected stay at the Travelodge this past March, but we have stayed here numerous times in the past years. The location of this hotel is great. Within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and museums. The staff is always very nice. The standard rooms have all your needs covered. No frills, but clean and comfortable. We stayed in their king suite (I think they just have one) during our past stay. Very large room, nice decorations with a sofa and a desk. The bathroom is big with a one person jacuzzi tub and seperate shower stall. There are two entrances to this room. One by the front desk and one off of the breakfast nook area. It can get a little noisy outside the door to the breakfast area. The hotel is pet friendly. We have dogs, but don't travel with them. Usually I don't mind a pet friendly hotel, but during this stay another guest brought her two dogs to the breakfast area. I thought it was a little odd. Not the hotels fault and I suppose I could have complained, but we just chose not to eat at the breakfast area that morning. Overall I really like this hotel and I know we will be staying there again.

Room Tip: Some rooms open directly on to the main road.
