“Disappointed in a Hampton Inn for First Time”
Reviewed September 6, 2005

We were there when the hotel was completely booked for the weekend. There was a soccer team there from out of state whose players and parents were under the impression that rules do not apply to them. Management allowed small children to over take over the hot tub. Even when they did get out one of them announced they had just peed in it. Parents of this team were permitted to have alcohol in both glasses and open containers in the common areas. The parents did not have control over their children and the management did not have control over the parents. We were contacted by someone from the hotel regarding our complaint and instead of an apology; they were defensive and said they could not watch that many people. Apparently, I am falsely under the impression that it is their job to enforce the policies of the hotel. Also, we left our Entertainment Book behind and called to retrieve it the same day. I was told by management that no one turned it in. Some advice if you want to stay here; call ahead and see if there are any groups booked that may prevent you from using the amenities you will be paying for, and do not leave anything behind. Sounds like "lost and found" is more like "take what you want."

Hotel assistant manager was very helpful- booked a king room 1 night and could not get same room (on internet booking) for next night. He showed us a smoking room to see if it would be adequate and also informed us that floor would be best as they had a baseball team spending the weekend on another floor. We appreciated his interest in our peace/quiet! He also noticed right away that 2 pillows were not in the armoire and called housekeeping to bring them up- they were in the room before we got upstairs. Continental breakfast was more than adequate! French toast sticks/sausage and all the regular (oatmeal, cereal, muffins, bagels, doughnuts, fresh fruit, etc.) first morning; second morning was biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs, and all the regular items. Pool is a little small for a hotel of that size. We waited until later in evening to use, when most of the small children were out. Also took manager's advice on using the guide from the NPS for Gettysburg for $40 and it was well worth the money. Could ask any questions you want- more personalized tour. Was glad this hotel was not right in the middle of town- preferred to be away from all the noise! Would definitely stay again.

We went to Gettysburg in memorial day weekend and stayed there for two nights. The room was with a king bed with a little study area. It was very neat and clean and spacious for me and my husband and our toddler son. The bathroom was neat too. The hotel is situated outskirt of the town gettysburg so it was not in a crowded area at all. There were few restaurants nearby and also there is a Wal-Mart in walking distance from the hotel. The lobby was neat and the staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was enough and it included some hot items too. Also there are juices and cereals available in the lobby in the afternoon. I paid $104 + tax per night and the price was on a AAA discount which I booked through the hotel's website. If I go there again and don't want to spend more money for hotel I will definitely stay there again.

This hotel is on the other side of town from the battlefield. We stayed in a king suite with a jacuzzi and a fireplace. The room was large and the kitchen area was sufficient with table and chairs. The living room had a pull out sofa that could have been better equipped for sleeping. The king bed in the bedroom was very cozy. The fireplace was quick to warm the chill in the room and the bathroom was large enough to accommodate the jacuzzi. The pool area and workout area were sufficient. The staff was accommodating, but there was a large bag of garbage that stayed by the elevator for 2 days before being removed. One thing we especially liked was the front desk had preprinted directions to many places, available upon request. There were coupon books available that we actually used, offering 2 for 1 pricing on some tours. The breakfast was decent and well stocked during our stay. There was ample parking in the parking lot.
This hotel was within walking distance to eateries, but did require crossing the street. One drawback was the location. This HI was on the other side of town from the battlefield. While only a short drive to the main attractions at Gettysburgh and the battlefield, this facility required one to drive to do anything, except eat. It is a clean facility and the suites are not cramped like some other HI suites.

Stayed Fri/Sat night. Lots of youth groups. Pool was over crowed until after 9PM. Breakfast bar OK, nothing special. Room was clean. Easy to find location with lots of parking.

My husband and I just got back from our stay at the Hampton. We reserved a king room that had a fridge, sink and microwave. It was a corner room and very large. There was a recliner and a desk, no table. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had on the area. A continental breakfast was included, which was very adequate-hot and cold items. They also put out chocolate chip cookies late in the afternoon (which didn't last long) and then fresh glazed donuts when the cookies were gone... It was a weekend stay, so I don't know what the breakfast would be like during the week. It's located on Route 30 outside of downtown Gettysburg, so the traffic could be noisy.

We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn in Gettysburg. We found the staff to be extemely friendly and helpful. They even packed a sack breakfast for us when we had to leave very early in order to make a tour to Washington D.C.
We stayed in the family king suite and found the room to comfortable and clean. The beds were firm but comfortable.
The new hot breakfast is very good. It offers a nice assortment of both hot and cold breakfast items. We will be sure to stay there again and highly recommend this hotel to others.
