“The perfectly maintained lab and personal home of one of history’s most influential people. Highly Recommend!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

Thomas Edison’s world is perfectly maintained in this two part exhibit. I will give a review for both sections:

Lab:
Pros Only:
1. The rooms look like they were frozen in time. The machines and books and lab equipment are incredible to see in their original environment. I was particularly fascinated by the machines that ran on the pulley system.
2. The grounds seem well maintained
3. All staff members were extremely friendly and knowledgable.
4. The signage was laid out quite well and providing full explanations
5. The price is very reasonable, $7.

Edison’s House:
Pros Only also:
1. Absolutely perfect example of a house from the time period. ALL the furniture and and decorations are original. I’
ve been to many “old homes” and this is the only one I can remember that is all original.
2. The tour guide was fantastic. It was evident she was passionate about the house.
3. Ask about the heating system. This is the only upgrade (all behind the scenes) and is very intriguing geothermal system.
4. Price is included with the Lab

Comment:
1. If you or anyone in your party is handicapped in a wheelchair, don’t bother with the house. It is from the 1800’s and is all original, so there no provisions for handicapped folks. I cannot call this a negative due to the fact that the draw to this house is that it is untouched.

I absolutely recommend this attraction. It is like walking back in time to Edison’s Era and seeing how he lived.

“Amazing glimpse of history and innovation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

We recently spent a whole day exploring this museum. What I loved was the fact it was a museum that was once his workshop, lab and library so you can truly visualise what it must have been like to be here. We enjoyed all of the free talks and tours. Would thoroughly recommend. Our children aged 10 and 12 were truly inspired.

This place gives you a glimpse into the past, how Edison lived with his family, and how he worked on his many inventions, The man changed the way we live. If you like learning see this house which has undergone an extensive update keeping all the original items. The tour is worth waiting for. Jeremy T

“Historic Site Worth Visiting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

Edison's Factory and Labs - Building 5 has 3 floors and the library. Make sure that you take the Ranger guided tour of the chemistry labs. Very knowledgeable guides.

Some reviews mention "not much there" - take the time to read the signage and imagine the history. This was a two hour drive for me (each way) - was well worth it.

Do visit on a Friday - Saturday or Sunday so you can go down the road and tour Edison's home.

Note- if you are 62 years old or older, purchase the $10 senior lifetime pass - covers you and 3 oher people in your vehicle at all National Parks!
