“A few Issues”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

We were at the Rittenhouse for three nights to attend a wedding also held there. We had stayed at this hotel many years ago and we were thoroughly impressed. When we arrived we were taken to our room which was spacious and had a great view of the park. We needed a small refrigerator which was delivered quickly. We were told that this was a newly renovated room and other than new wallpaper it was hard to tell. There was not one wall hanging in the room and the bathroom while average was clearly not renovated. My biggest issue was the valet parking. We were told to give them 10 minutes to retrieve the call. I had an early appointment and called for my car as requested. When I got there my car was not there and there were no staff to talk to. After a few minutes someone arrived blamed it on the "night crew" and it took another 15 minutes for my car to be retrieved. In a first class hotel this level of service is unacceptable. Needless to say I was late for my appointment. After bringing this to the attention of the front desk they did apologize and waived one of the valet charges. Other than a few lapses in service it is still a first class hotel and the wedding was beautiful.

Room Tip: Try and overlook the park

Dear Marc,

Thank you for visiting while in town for the recent wedding you attended. Our standard is indeed ten minutes or less for car retrieval and your experience should have been as seamless in this area as it was throughout the hotel. We will follow up and retrain as necessary to prevent future instances of this nature.

Guest rooms are nearly complete with the notable exception of artwork which is in process. The next phase will include significant upgrades to our health club, spa and salon. We hope you are able to visit again soon.

Best regards,

Reg Archambault

We stayed here on a recent business trip and the hotel was exactly as advertised. It has a perfect downtown location across from the park and is surrounded by numerous restaurants and small businesses. The staff was as attentive as they could possibly be and recommended several good places to eat or grab a beer. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants, but the 'Library Bar' is great for a quiet night cap. I almost forgot - the rooms! Very spacious, great amenities. I really couldn't have asked for anything more.

Room Tip: Pick a high floor overlooking the park

Dear David,

Many thanks for your thoughts on your recent visit to the Rittenhouse. Our location is truly the best in the city and we are very proud of our new Library Bar just off our main lobby. It is and intimate setting just perfect for hand crafted cocktail or premium wine selection at any time of day.

We look forward to seeing you again soon...

My friend and I went here to celebrate our birthdays. It was the best hotel experience I have ever had. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. If you are looking for a hotel in Philly, it would be impossible to find a better hotel. Worth the extra money.

Room Tip: It is hard to find an option for double beds online but if you call, they will help you out.

We stayed here back in June and loved it.
The location is fantatic. You're in walking distance of so many great restaurants and sites (as well as the subway).
The lobby is very elegant (they even had a woman playing the harp). Upon check-in, we were given chocolate covered strawberries (delicious) and taken up to our spacious room.
The room itself was nice, but not amazing. I'm not sure if it was one of the updated rooms or not (my guess is that it wasn't). The bathroom seemed the most outdated. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just a little dated (it also included a washer/dryer). When you enter, you have a hallway, the bathroom is on the left, the living room (with pullout couch) on the right, and the bedroom at the end of the hall. Each had doors you could close. This really helped with any potential noise issues. Seriously, this is one of the quietest hotels I've stayed in.
The staff was very nice and helpful with anything we needed. Parking wasn't too much either.

Definitely would stay here again.

I stayed 2 nights here visiting Philly for the music festival. Hotel was close in location to 30th st. Penn station with short cab ride away. Lots of restaurants and shops near by to choose from. The hotel service was very good- had a mix up of orders when ordering room service and the manager called right away saying they would comp our meal since they forgot to bring up a order. Really appreciated that. Hotel beds were very comfortable. AC worked like a charm for the hot days. The rooms were very spacious almost felt like mini apartment. Room prices are a little pricy but overall i had a great stay- Concierge and front desk were all very helpful and hospitable. I believe they said they are redoing the spa so im sure when they are done it would be even better. There was free wifi and it worked very well. I was on 9th floor. If you are looking for spacious hotel with central location try this place..

Only one thing I want to note.... i think when the housekeeper was cleaning our room they left someone else's clothes in laundry bag on the floor.. Def wasn't there when we first got there. They may need to be more attentive to that..

We loved it-everything about this hotel is great-great service, super clean rooms, beautiful view. Acqua di Parma toiletries, turn down service w/chocolate and water bottles (very welcome since it was 100 degrees during most of our stay) It was the only time I've ever been in a hotel where I wasn't happy to get back home to my own bed. Really awesome. Can't wait to stay here again.
