Practically perfect in every way: great location, warm, helpful, ever present staff, and huge rooms!
We booked a double-double for a long weekend! Loved the shoe shining service, 24 hour room service, and afternoon tea! The staff made us feel very comfortable!

Room Tip: The double-double is essentially a junior suite; it was nice to spread out!

Excellent Hotel, Stayed for two nights. Very comfortable and clean rooms with many amenities as you would expect from a luxury hotel. A helpful and courteous staff from check-in to check-out. Well worth the price. We would stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Stayed here for one night with my mom while in Philly for her birthday and to check out an exhibit. The service was excellent from the minute we arrived until the minute we checked out. Front desk personnel were extremely helpful and very friendly - the cookies and champagne welcome was lovely and they all remembered that it was her birthday throughout our stay! Concierge McCarthy (can't remember his first name) was also very helpful with great walking directions to several places we wanted to visit (and thanks for the cheesesteak rec - Tony Jr's was awesome and so convenient!). Also very nice and funny were doormen/bellmen Shamus and Frank, who assisted us with getting around the city.

I'd like to echo a previous review & say that the hotel rooms are indeed VERY LARGE. The room and bathroom were immaculate (my only complaints here - the light in the shower didn't work and the AC made the room FREEZING when left on while we were out... you will be fine if you leave it off and turn it on when you return, as it works quickly).

The hotel's Restaurant Lacroix was lovely for breakfast and lunch, and the service there was excellent as well.

Great location - 10 minute cab ride to museum district and walking distance to tons of restaurants and bars.

We chose this hotel because it is an American Express Preferred Hotel - if you have a platinum card look into the amenities offered (credit toward hotel service, complimentary continental breakfast, early check-in/late check-out, etc.).

Wonderful stay - will come again!

I recently took my wife and inlaws (who are visiting from S. America ) on aweek trip to Philadelphia. We booked the Rittenhouse hrough a recommendation by Amex travel. I would not normally book such an expensive hotel ( I usually stay at Westin, Kimpton type hotels which are very nice) but i will have to say The Rittenhouse proves you get what you pay for! This is the best hotel i have ever stayed in anywhere in the world! The service is exemplary and everyone is very friendly. When i saw pictures of the hotel i thought i might be getting out of my league but everyone treated us in the friendliest of manner. I can tell everyone there seems to love there job.I generally dont take advantage of concierge services much but the concierge department headed by Frank Marandino is just out of this world!! Even my housekeeper Mary J made a point to write a personal note each day thanking us for our stay. WOW I will never be able to stay in other hotel in Philadelphia (finances willing) again. I will always compare the service at other hotels i stay in to The Rittenhouse and i doubt i will ever find one as good. Besides the rooms are huge and it is in a wonderful location. I would move in if i win the powerball..hahaha

Room Tip: I believe most of the rooms overlook Rittenhouse square, so there is not a bad room on the property.

This was my third stay, and it was a charm just like the previous two. Some of the notable features: great service delivered in a unpretentious way; comfortable modern rooms; and a desirable city center location on Rittenhouse Square. You cannot go wrong with this hotel!

The first time we stayed at The Rittenhouse was with our children around Christmas, this second visit was to celebrate our anniversary.Once again, everything was fabulous. From the moment we arrived , every staff member was kind, friendly and helpful. From the glass of champagne and cookies at check in, to the bottle of chilled champagne and chocolate covered strawberries they left in our room with a "Happy Anniversary" card, the special touches were lovely and much appreciated. Our deluxe room on the 9th floor was spacious, immaculately clean and quiet. There are great places for breakfast in the area, but this trip we ate in their restaurant which is very pretty, relaxed and comfortable, in a nice setting overlooking the square. Our meal was very good and reasonably priced.
In addition, the hotel secured tickets to the Barnes Foundation thorough their Barnes package for us, and it's really not to be missed if you have time. The museum was sold out completely the weekend we were there, so that was a real plus to get tickets. The Oyster House, a great restaurant on Sansom st. where we have been before, doesn't take general reservations on the weekend but once again, the hotel got them for us ( we had asked at the time we made our hotel reservation).
This is a really lovely hotel in an excellent location, but the warmth, helpfulness and efficiency of the people that work there really make it top notch. We will return again!
