If you are a band travelling thorugh Philadelphia and are looking for a cheap place to stay, Microtel Inn and Suites sounds like the perfect place BUT BEWARE because on a recent 2 night stay there, my band's gear was stolen from their van while parked at their "video surveillance monitored" parking lot. There are few who doubt that the job must have come from inside the staff who was working there that night, our second there. The thieves turned the cameras away from our van and had an easy and unecumbered time when they took advantage and left nothing. Our whole life as a band was taken from us at that place on that night August 18th, 2009 so if you are a touring band with little money, stay as far away from this hotel as you can. Any promise of securityis a lie as the hotel management did not help get to the bottom of this and none of the staff was questioned. $14,000 dollars, 7 years and possibly a promising career taken in one night. So BEWARE, stay away from Microtel Inn and Suites and be careful when you come to Philadelphia. There are some very bad seeds here and some of them work in the hotels.

I was a bit concerned after reading some reviews but the Microtel was perfect for the us. We landed late at night, there was free phones near the luggage area with the hotel on speed dial. We were picked up after a 10 minute wait, the check in was just as easy. The driver of the airport shuttle was friendly and took my husband back to the airport to get our delayed luggage. The room had two double beds, it was fairly big and had a decent bathroom. The fridge made a little bit of noise at night and we could hear some traffic in the morning. There was a big tv in the room and there is a restaurant a short walk away. You can also order take away food to be delivered to the hotel. There is free breakfast in the morning, consisting of bagels and muffins, juice, coffe, tea and cereal. Overall, this was a perfect hotel for us at an affordable price. Free internet in the room.

We stayed here for one night before an early flight. It was fine for that purpose. The standard room is quite small, so I wouldn’t want to spend any significant time there. Maybe the larger rooms/suites that have the sofa, wet bar, mini fridge are better. My only real issue with the hotel was the temperature of the rooms and public spaces--it was HOT! The air in our room brought in air from the outside, which was cool, but humid. If it had been hot outside, the room would have been stifling. As it was, we just had to deal with the humidity. We called down to the front desk about this, and we were asked what type of air-con unit was in the room. Apparently, some of the rooms have a newer digital system, which ours did not. The location is great--about 7 minutes from the airport, so you’re there in no time. The shuttle worked well, although they run only every 30 minutes. The hotel is in a complex with a Hampton Inn, Courtyard Marriott (or maybe it was a Fairfield), and an Embassy Suites. There is a Ruby Tuesdays within walking distance of all those hotels, along with the Embassy Grille at the Embassy Suites. The included continental breakfast was a little disappointing, but to be honest, we tried to eat at 5:00 am and it didn’t’ officially begin until 5:30 (this was a weekday; I’m not sure if weekend hours differ). There were packaged bagels and muffins, but no cold beverages. There was a juice machine with three kinds of juices, but it wasn’t turned on. I think there was also cereal, but no fresh fruit or healthy options. The hotel seems maintained, and there are pretty flowers surrounding the entrance. It’s what you would expect from a Microtel--no more and no less. We got a “park, sleep, and fly” rate here of just over $100, which included the room and 7 days parking--a good deal, since parking at PHL can’t be found (even offsite) for much less than $9 per day.I would stay here again if I could be sure the air-conditioning worked in any season--I like my room chilly.

We stayed one night at the Microtel by the Philly airport because it was easier to get up and go to an early flight from right across route 95 from the airport. The accomodations were fine. It was clean, there was a working tv and a bathroom. All we really needed for the cheap stay we wanted. The 24 hour shuttle worked out well at 5 am and there was a nice spread for breakfast. The staff was friendly and we experienced no problems. It is true, you get what you pay for and we were happy with that.

Room itself was acceptable, although the tv platform wouldn't swivel as it should, so you couldn't watch tv from the sofa, only from the bed.

The breakfast majorly disappointing.
