I have read a number of negative reviews on the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Philadelphia Airport in the TripAdvisor site and I hesistated in booking this hotel for my staty. Upon my check-in, I found that my room was not like any of the negative reviews.
The location of this hotel is very near to the Philadelphia International Airport, which is about 5 minutes by car. This hotel serves as a very good place to sleepover before one catches an early morning flight at the airport.
The location of this hotel is far away from every other place of interest and food. However, the Philadelphia Center Cityis just minutes away via the SEPTA Rail. The nearest SEPTA Rail Station is Eastwick, which is about 5 minutes away by foot. Upon alighting the SEPTA Rail Eastwick Station, I went down the steps of the station and started navigating for this hotel. I frantically walked around with my 2 heavy backpacks for more than 10 minutes in the night in the desolate area trying to find a way to cross over the rail tracks where the hotel is located. Finally, just before I made the last resort of following the road to start my walk on the highway on S 84th St and then on to Bartram Ave, I went up to the station again to give it a last shot. Lo and behold! There was a wooden platform that enables passengers to cross over the rail tracks. Shouldn't there be signages put up by the many hotels in the vicinity at the rail station pointing out to guests on the direction to take to their hotels? Also, do not try to walk on the highway! It does not have exit points for pedestrians to go to the hotel.
As I neared the hotel, I saw that it looked very good and new. The room was a little small, clean, neat, and bright. The carpet was new and clean. The bed was also clean and neat. I had a very comfortable sleep. The bathroom and towels were also clean.
The hotel offers complimentary WiFi, local calls, and long distance calls. The WiFi is accessible in the lobby and rooms. It was strong but at times, intermittently weak.
There is only one restaurant in the vicinity of the hotel, and that is located in the nearby Hampton Inn Philadelphia International Airport.
Breakfast was complimentary, simple, and buffet style: bagels, cereals, muffins, hot tea, coffee, and chocolate, and cold juices.
There was a complimentary 24-hour shuttle to the airport every top of the hour and half of the hour.
The counter Staff told me that they will be starting on renovations, so that the hotel will be even newer and brighter.
Overall, this hotel is clean, neat, bright, and affordable.
