“Great value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

Recently enjoyed a two night stay here. Had stayed in a beautiful hotel in NYC so was prepared for a drop in standards but was pleasantly surprised. Generously proportioned rooms in a great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice complimentary breakfast. Overall great value for money and would recommend for anyone stopping in Philadelphia.

Stayed three nights during our road trip to several cities/states. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel - large, CLEAN room, comfortable beds, decent breakfast and a location that was perfect for walking all over Philly - to Rittenhouse Square, to the Historic District and other places. There were tons of shops, restaurants and bars in the nearby area; a perfect location to stay. The staff were extremely nice and friendly, esp. the lady who worked in the breakfast room.

As others noted, the bathroom is small but the sink/mirror/vanity area is outside the bathroom and is a nice size so it makes up for the small bathroom. Anyway, only one person can 'use' (if you know what I mean :)) the bathroom at one time, so how big does it have to be??? The attached parking garage was a huge plus (owned by a separate company) and the cost was lower to park there than other hotels that had garages 'attached'.

We loved Philly and would definitely stay at this hotel again! Some people complain about small things, but we found nothing wrong with this hotel.

The style is typical for the Holiday Inn Express properties located in the downtown areas of large cities. Old and new style mix which I happen to like. (Baltimore is similar). The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great - walking distance to tourist sites and good restaurants. Parking was a slight pain, but typical for downtown areas. They try to smooth it out by giving you a key card that gets you in/out of the garage. Would definitely recommend this place.

I stayed here for two nights - the location was perfect for walking to interesting sites - Reading Terminal Market, South Street, Old City, Antiques Row etc. Because of the location - it was a bit noisy at night, someone was screaming outside my hotel room at 2am, but thats the price of being in central town. Breakfast was ok, had to go elsewhere to find a decent coffee! but other than that, no complaints!

The location of this hotel makes it worth a night or two stay, I would recommend a higher floor and a room that overlooks the pool for a quieter stay. Also away from the elevator bay if possible. The King room was very spacious, but older in some ways, the bathroom was very small and oddly appointed with two toilet paper rolls and a bottle opener attached to the door frame. The shower was small and had a grab bar that was oddly placed and completely in the way, and the bath itself seemed to pop and give as you moved within it like it was an overlay (Bath Fitter style) that was poorly done. The toiletries all smelled like Thanksgiving, heavy cinnamon spice... very weird and not in a good way. Two of our three washcloths were stained which did not make me feel very comfortable with the cleanliness of the room overall although I did not notice any further issues. The floor was super loud, a hotel party with what looked to be a lot of very young folks was raging, but thankfully quieted down late in the evening after someone complained. The elevators were painfully slow and one was out of order. When we checked in there was a short line and two to three people at the desk, only one of which ever helped anyone. Maybe the others were busy, but a long line behind us soon formed and it would look better for staff that cannot assist to not be right there in front of us just looking like they are ignoring us. Breakfast was included and was fine, nothing to write home about, but nice to have. Parking was $22 in a garage on site which was cheaper than listed, so that was great. Again, amazing location, very easy to walk to a lot of good restaurants and Reading Terminal Market as well as the Convention Center, so pretty worth it via discount site prices. Would never pay standard rates to stay there though.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor overlooking the pool, these will have less noise from the street below.

I stayed on business for two nights. I have to say the room was comfortable and clean. Within walking distance of a couple bars and restaurants. The views from the room were nice. All in all this was a good hotel. The only downside was that they didn't have a restaurant, since I travel on business sometimes I am too tired to go searching for a place to eat. The breakfast in the morning was your typical free hotel breakfast nothing bad or amazing about it. I travel to Philadelphia frequently and I would stay here again.

The location was fantastic! Right in Center City, just about a mile away from any number of things--very easy walking. The neighborhood was also very safe and populated at night. Jarred at the front desk definitely went above and beyond. I asked him which direction to turn to get to a certain place and he not only told me that, he went over the map with me and showed me how to get there, then gave me the map to keep! There's free wifi in the rooms, and free hot breakfast every day. There was a problem with the elevators, but the staff was quick to respond and work it out.

Now the negatives:
The walls are a little thin and you can easily hear the people in the rooms next to you. The beds are a little hard (but you may like that).
