Stayed here last year for the Flower Show (see review dated March 12, 2012) and returned again this year for two nights. This time I had a room with two double beds.

The positives include:

1. Large, spacious rooms; my room looked like it had been recently updated.
2. Very comfortable bed; excellent linens and pillows.
3. Excellent housekeeping - spotless!
4. Good heating and air conditioning.
5. My room (on the 10th floor) had a view of William Penn atop City Hall.
6. Location cannot be beat. Halfway between Independence Hall and the Art Museum - both in walking distance (less than 10 blocks). Lots of dining and entertainment choices nearby.

The needs improvement:

1. Unlike the rooms, the lobby and the hallways look a little old, dark and dingy. Only two elevators, which was a bit slow due to the crowds (lots of tourist there when I visited).
2. Front desk was efficient, but not very friendly. Also, they need to be more knowlegable about dining places.
3. Breakfast area was crowded, but woman working there was very nice. It is the standard HI Express breakfast (I love the make your own pancakes, but not the powdery eggs).

This is a great choice if you are looking for a central location.

I have stayed at this hotel with the extended family 3 times already, the first two times in August 2011 , when we went to drop and settle our daughter at Upenn, we again went and stayed there during Thanksgiving 2012 , and will be staying again this summer in May 2013 during her Graduation /Commencement . It's the ideal hotel for us to be able to visit our daughter as well as to enjoy the vibrant activities of Philadelphia , the inclusive breakfast is great way to begin the day . The staff are polite , helpful and courteous . I have been offered a small travel shaving foam can on two occassions when I have realised that the one in my hand bag was disposed off by airport security . They have always endeavoured to give us our rooms ahead of check in time , in the event we arrive early , tired after a long flight from India . I recommend this hotel for the perfect balance of a combination of location, price, quality and service

Room Tip: Just try and not opt for a room at the end of the corridor that has the ice machine

Checked in on a Friday night around 8pm. Was very smooth, and the front desk was helpful, courteous, and professional. Got us checked in, and gave us walking directions to places we were headed later that night. Room was clean and fine when we got there. We left Saturday and got back to the room being cleaned, and turn down service was good. Thank you to the housekeeper Deborah for always saying hello to us and asking if we need anything when we left the room. A simple Hello, how are you, goes a very long way. Hotel breakfast was pretty good. Multiple choices: eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt, bagels. The hotel has a great location, and many things within walking distance. Parking is availabe at the hotel for $25 per night. I would definitley stay here again.

Stayed there last week while for business in Temple University. It was pretty close. Staff were nice (not so used to that in Philly). The elevators were really stinky, and the room needed some refurbishing. Hotel is old in general. Breakfast was fine, just the normal HI-express breakfast

The location is easy and convenient to get to. Only minor things that can be addressed easily: the room lamps need to be replaced (a makeshift adapter for different light bulbs with exposed wires), the WiFi signals not uniform throughout the property and finally not enough electrical sockets in the room.

KEEP ROOM CARD KEY after check-out if you leave luggage with the bellhop. They will come in handy if you need to use the washrooms on street level.

Room Tip: Avoid room x01 and x02 for its proximity to the elevators.

Everyone we met - front desk, housekeeping, garage parking staff- was very polite and friendly to talk to. The hot breakfast was excellent. We were visiting for the Philadelphia flower show so the location was perfect. Only 2 blocks from the convention center. Many places to eat and drink nearby. We went to 2 of the restaurants that the front desk recommended and were pleasantly surprised how good the food was.

I made the mistake of staying here! They charge you $25.00 a day just to park and then you have to wait a long time to get your car back! I found pubic hairs in the "clean" bed, in the shower,on the ceiling of the bathroom and behind the door. I had a better stay at a MOTEL 6. There's no place to unload or load your luggage and the front desk staff act like they're doing you a favor by waiting on you. I didn't even get a receipt when I checked out. All they said was "OK". Forget the breakfast! It was lousy but thankfully there was an I.H.O.P. across the street that was CLEAN and the wait staff friendly! I already reported this place to Intercontinental Hotel Group. By the way, King Kong stays here too, I heard him all night in the room above me.

Room Tip: Stay Somewhere else
