The location was adequate for the Made in America event, but that's about the nicest thing I can say. The furniture is outdated, our floor smelled heavily of cigarette smoke despite being "non smoking" and the customer service was below average. The maids were the friendliest employees there, and 2 of 3 front desk staff that we worked with were rude, at best. Not worth the price.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

We chose this hotel because it was in relatively easy walking distance to the Convention Center. We had also read about the various historic sites within walking distance, and the easy subway access to the Phillies stadium.

All of this easy access stuff turned out to be completely true! While we choose to walk to the historic area of the city and this walk was non-trivial, it was doable if you're used to walking. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell were not quite as far, but still a decent walk. The convention center was a very easy walk. And the venture to the subway station turned out to be super easy. We figured out the subway, enjoyed a Phillies game and were back at the hotel via return subway ride quickly and easily.

We were on one of the higher level floors of the hotel, but the elevators were prompt and fast. The room was very nice; clean, comfortable, quiet with a good view of the city ... from our room at least. Housekeeping did an excellent job.

We did not eat at the complimentary HIX breakfasts here. I used to love these breakfast freebies, and in reality I guess I still do. However, we stay at HIX's often and everyone needs a break from the same stuff, eh? Fortunately, there was an IHOP right across the street that had great food and even better service. Excellent!

There was one minor down-side with staying in this downtown hotel. Even though we didn't need a car to get around, we still brought one with us to get there and back. Parking was $25 a day and valet style, where you had to leave your keys with them. However, dropping off the car, then picking it up when we were ready to leave proved easy and fast. So, short of the $75 extra cost (and we knew about this ahead of time, so no biggy), it was convenient and painless.

Below average for a Holiday Inn Express. It's isn't a complete dump but the furnishings are overdue for an upgrade. I paid 25,000 points per night through Priority club so I can't comment on room rates. There are a lot of bars / restaurant within walking distance.

The parking garage is a joke. I wouldn't recommend parking anything larger than a bicycle. On top of that, they don't give you Priority Club points for the $25/day you have to pay for parking. I wasn't even going to write a review until I called Priority Club inquiring about my missing points from the parking fees. This is one review that wouldn't have happened if you would have just given me my darn points!

Room Tip: Try to get a high floor so you don't hear the beggars on the streets below.

Typical Holiday Inn Express experience. The staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and comfortable. No noise from neighbors. THe bathroom was a bit small, but very clean, modern and functional. The complimentary breakfast was a great start to the day. Hot and cold items. Wireless internet to plan your day! Parking is a little confusing if you drive. When you first arrive, you can park inside the parking garage to the left of the main entrance to check in and get your bags. You can pay for parking at the front desk at check-in ($21 a day). You'll get a card which gives you unlimited drive in/out privileges. The actual parking is a bit crazy...the cars are meant to be double parked. We parked ours close to the wall about a car length ahead of the car behind us so no one was blocked. You are central to everything at this hotel. The tourist attractions are a short walk in every direction, shops, restaurants, cafes, shopping all within walking distance. We did not use our car at all once we parked it. There is a pool on the 7th floor. The lobby also has a computer for guest use. The price was a bit high, but I suppose this is what you would pay to get such a great location. The amenities this hotel offered were better or comparable to others in the area.

Arrived on a Friday afternoon. The receptionist made me feel welcome to include providing a Gift Bag with Goodies for being a Priority Club member which came in handy later on during the day. The hotel is in a great location. Quick walk to City Hall, Reading Market, Independence Hall, Metro and easy walk to other tourist locations. Hotel is on Walnut street, which offers good alternatives for food and dining and pubs near-by. Although a long walk, was able to walk back and forth to the Art Museum. Walked to Independence Hall on a Sunday morning which took about 10 minutes. Also went to a Phillies game, which was a quick hop on the Metro. The breakfast was ok, not great, but ok for being free. The room in general was large and fine. Only complaint was the thin walls. I could hear people in both sides of my room, but when I turned on the room AC fan, the white noise took care of the that. Hotel has free wi-fi which was great for iPhone and iPad devices.
