“Sounds really good, but the food is really poor.”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

While service at this place was good, if inexperienced, the food reminded me of my high school cafeteria on a bad day. The menu sounds really interesting, but the actual items are not. The mashed sweet potatoes were watery and flavorless, the rabe was stringy, tough and again tasteless. I almost spit it out it was so bad. The pork chop was dry, and once again without any flavor, even the sauce was boring.

The "vietnamese style" squid was cooked properly, but the dipping sauce tasted like ketchup with hot sauce added.

It is a very casual place, so much so that the patrons seated next to us removed their shoes, and we had to look at dirty feet while we ate which did not help much.

Entree prices were medium high, I expected much more than this sad experience.

“Excellent food and service in Old City near Independence Hall”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We stumbled upon this place while walking through Old City on a sunny Sunday morning during Memorial Day weekend. A crowded restaurant on Sunday morning/brunch/lunch is always a good sign the place is worth a visit. Everyone is out on Friday and Saturday night so it is not hard to find crowds even at mediocre restaurants. If people are up on a Sunday morning for brunch and filling up a place it must be good and Farmacia is excellent. Each and every person from the hostesses to several different servers were polite, friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding. They seem to place a focus on fresh, healthy and tasty options. My wife, who loves BLTs said the the BLT was the best she ever had. The kids raved about their french toast.

Great atmosphere, service and food. Farmacia was well worth the time and money.

“just the prescription”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

nice food, cheerful service, great ice cream what's not to like? There was a big range of food in the various different categories, and our vegetarian seemed happy enough with his veggie dish (risotto with a carrot sauce). Portions not too huge though, but balanced.

“Under rated locally for some reason but a fabulous spot”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

While the hoards are flocking to Budacan and Morimoto in the old town this perfectly charming restaurant on 3rd between Market and Chestnut is a great find. We recently flew internationally out of Philadelphia and elected to stay there before and after our flights. Found this place by walking the neighborhood. None the ranking websites seemed to know of the restaurant. The menu is varied and includes dedicated vegan entires and apps. But there is plenty for the fish and meat crowds. We had just come from 5 nights of French dining in St Martin and my wife and I both thought Farmacia was as good and of course a better value.

“Nice place for brunch just 2 blocks from Independence Mall”
Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

Farmacia is a cheerful, bustling restaurant with a broad one-page brunch menu: Standard breakfast items, some Mexican dishes, salads, and seafood options. Food was excellent-all 8 of us had well prepared tasty dishes. Very good coffee and many tea choices. Small bar in main dining room. There are plenty of healthy food choices and a few vegetarian options. I particularly liked the Mexican omelet with ground chorizo, jalapeños, chives, and cheese-it was spicy & rich without painful heat. Reasonable prices-you get large servings with drinks and sides for about $20/person.
