“Multi-purpose Local spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Di Bruno's is about 4 blocks from my co-op, so I think of it as a neighborhood place. The enormous market on the first floor has an amazingly varied and excellent cheese shop, a specialty (cut to order) butcher and fish shop, excellent Italian bread and pastries, as well as a large selection of quality deli meats, salads and prepared foods in single serve containers to take home (mostly Italian and Continental foods). Italian (from Italy) items - oils, pastas, olives - abound. They are all pricey, but the value is excellent. What I take home from DiBruno's gets eaten.

Upstairs is a 2-part cafeteria. On one side hot entrees - usually one fish, one meat, one vegetarian - also veggies and soup. On the other side sandwiches, hoagies, antipasti, and other simple selections. Very good value here: you can lunch for under $10 if your beverage is water.

The original DiBruno Bros store has been an Italian Market staple for decades, specializing in cheeses, olives, and deli meats. This outpost in a more upscale neighborhood retains all the high quality standards of the original, while taking advantage of the preferences of a much larger "uptown" location.

Worth a visit if only to window shop and people watch.

“Go in and wonder at all the great cheese”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

It is a pricey market. But, once in a while you need to splurge. I used to work nearby and just drop in for the free cheese tastings all the time. If you need gourmet food. This is Philadelphia's go to market.

“Went to catered affair here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

I visited this restaurant for a wedding rehearsal dinner and we found the service and atmosphere fantastic. Downstairs is a market but upstairs they gave a beautiful dining area and the food was served cafeteria style. I recommend this place for the food and service.

“Love cheese? GO HERE!!”

It's not cheap but you'll be guaranteed to get some of the best cheese you can buy. A must stop for Philly cheese lovers.
