By far one of my true favorites in Philly. I have tried to go to other latin style restaurants... but none of them ever taste as good as the food at Pura Vida. Simple, basic, fresh ingrediants resulting in an always enjoyable meal. Casual, relaxed atmosphere with open kitchen. Cannot beat the prices and the fact that it is BYO. They make amazing freshly squeezed margarita mix if you bring your own tequila. Although I love everything... my favorites... ginger chicken soup, pura vida appetizer, chorizo and bean tostadas, cubano sandwich, illichita (shredded beef) and red snapper when it is on special. Go and enjoy... you won't be dissapointed. FYI it is closed on sun and mon.

I read all of the reviews and ate at Pura Vida last night. It was wondderful. Had the Ceviche and chips, salsa & guacamole for an app. The medium Salsa tasted nice, but no heat. Got the hot salsa as well - that turned up the heat nicley. I got the shredded beef enchiladas with black beans and saffron rice , wife had the Grilled tilapia with Chimichurri and lobster raviolis - both dishes were outstanding. The icing on the cake a warm rice pudding with ice cream and cinnamon which melted in - fantastic! Will return soon to try the guatamalan tamales and cuban sandwhich!

Soooooo good. Love the civiche. Love the entrees. Love the vibe. I don't know what that cheap [--] is talking about. Its the best deal in the city by far. I always, without fail, have an A + experience. Atmosphere is fun and sexy yet laid back. Food delish.
