I enjoyed the staff, who were very friendly. They explained about the ziploc baggie of water hanging from the doorway...anyone who has been there knows what I am talking about! The staff suggested a piece of coffeecake...delicious! The Cafe is currently being painted and updated with artwork, which I think will add to its charm.

The title says it all - we haven't tried anything else at Darling's, but the Cheesecake Was Awesome! There are a variety of flavors, but we had the original.

This is cheesecake to die for, well maybe not die but definitely swoon. Upon the recommendation of the staff had the banana foster cheesecake. I generally would not have something that sounds so sweet but it was delicious. After a day at several museums needed to refuel and this filled the bill. Thank you Darling.

Great cheesecake but the rest of the food not nearly as good as it appears on their website. Only a handful of tables and very warm. Part of our order was never brought out and what was served as iced tea was questionable and terrible. No ice in drinks and diet Coke was broke with no other diet alternative. Cheesecake was excellent but pricey.

Darling's Cafe is next to the Franklin Institute and its main competiton for lunch is Ben's Bistro inside the museum. If I have to choose between Darling's and Ben's I choose the short walk and go across the street to Darling's. The best part of the meal is the Philadelphia style cheesecake. Some reviewers like this style, others do not. My wife loves the texture and the many flavors they offer.

The sandwiches, most of which are served warm, are not too elaborate. The Cafe only has a toaster oven and microwave for fixing the lunch menu. Several of the sandwiches on the menu could benefit from a few minutes on a grill/griddle that you might find in a kitchen. If you really enjoy a good sandwich I would recommend you go somewhere else. If you just want a serviceable sandwich before indulging in desert then you might find the food OK.

There isn't really a childrens menu, though they offer ham and cheese sandwich, macaroni and cheese, and some juice drinks that might appeal to the appetites of children.

Outside seating is limited to one table. Groups of 6 or more will find seating first come first served. Staff is minimal and for lunch you will need to be patient, both in ordering and in waiting for the food. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Try stopping by on a weekend afternoon for a late snack of cheesecake and your favorite hot beverage. This seems to be their forte.
