Description: Amada is Chef Garces’ iconic first restaurant. Since opening in 2005, this gorgeous rustic-chic restaurant and bar has embraced the rich traditions of Spanish cuisine. Amada’s capacious dining room features a six-seat chef’s counter overlooking the open kitchen, a comfortable second dining room and lounge area, an intimate private event space and a spacious bar area reminiscent of a typical Spanish bodega, complete with hanging jamons. Since opening Amada in Philadelphia in 2005, Chef Jose Garces has emerged as an enormous talent and one of the nation’s most gifted chefs and restaurateurs. Today, he is the owner and operator of more than a dozen restaurants across the country, plus a thriving event planning division and 40-acre Luna Farm.

We had better tapas here than much of what we have enjoyed in Spain. Most were not fully authentic, but benefited from the chef's interpretation. We sat at the"chef's counter" overlooking the dessert prep area, and enjoyed watching the show. We like a lively atmosphere, but this was noisy to the point that I'm now hoarse from shouting to make myself heard. I'd certainly return, with the right dinner companions, and for the right occasion.

The ESPECIALIDADES DE LA CASA, Roasted Pig and Lobster Paella are fantastic indulgences at high prices. The rest of the menu is equally as exciting and took me back to a holiday in Spain. There is a great bar which is always very busy as is the restaurant so do reserve ahead, of course the Pig Roast requires advance notice beyond a reservation. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped figs, the beef short ribs on flatbread with bacon and horseradish and their wonderful ensalada verde. There are numerous traditional Spanish Tapas selections, Spanish wines and beers. Experience a touch of Spain in Philadelphia.
A short walk from the main historic district. There is a Brunch menu and

Amada was Chef Garces's first solo restaurant effort after leaving the Starr restaurants....It was, and continues to be a great success...excellent food in really attractive surroundings, in the heart
of the historic area of Philadelphia!

The Restaurant looks great and the service was friendly and helpful. Although we had some tapas and the salads, which were very good, I will always remember and long for that Almond Soup. I would certainly go back.

Truly enjoyed our visit to the Amada, there is a good selection of tapas dishes and the food is of a high standard! Although the restaurant is quite expensive, it is worth it!

Nice environment, and food is gradually brought out, which is good as the food is fresh and hot!
